On a previous thread there is mention that they should charge a fee for items not returned right away.

Some think the late fee is too harsh especially on product that will not be in used right away.

I have wedding items picked up a day befor ethe wedding with no additional charge. It is just good customer service, it gives the bride family more needed time for them to enjoy the big moment. It gives them time to prepare things sooner.

Now on the subject with late fee, can you change the word in your contract to day, any additional days the rental fee for the items will be x amount per day! You may factored that in your contract if you wish the rental of an additional day rental and if they return it on time, refund them the money.

That is just my opinion.
I have been in business for 11 + years. I never had a wedding contract for any thing including rental. I got stun 2 years ago for 3 vase.
Maybe it is just me and my samll town way of thinking. Are we becoming a society of contracts????? or is it just in the USA

If we don't have any need for the rental items for the following weekend, we will give them til Tuesday for a return.

But remember items need to be cleaned, pillars touched up, wax off candleabra etc and in my store we have more time to do clean and refurbish the beginning of the week not the end.

and yes we've been stiffed on vases before so a contract with a CC back up is prudent.

Luc, I don't know if it's just in the USA or not, but I do believe that we are, indeed, becoming a sociey of contracts. I tell my brides that the contract is protect them and our shop.

There was a time when we did not charge late fees, but after not receiving 2 wreaths back after 2 weeks, I finally was able to get in touch with the bride who told me that her brother had them. He finally brought them back, and told me that the wreaths had been riding around in the trunk of his car ever since the wedding. They were in sad shape.

We do charge, in addition to rental fees, a fee of $75, which will be returned if the rented items are retuned by the Monday following the wedding or whatever day we designate.

Luc,
You are so right on all of this, I never use to have contracts, just the basic of what they were getting done, and now because everyone is sue happy, We now have to do it, which is so sad in the society that we live in, For example some of you know of that darn wedding that I got very ill at, and know the details on it, well even the darn Grooms mother continued to call and state"WE need to sue that site" What do you mean we, No I didn't and won't do that, but yes I paid all the medical bills myself, and dealt with that mess, and still dealing with it a year later, but hey I had myself covered, Which is great if not, who knows on this end of the big pond,
