Remember when Greg Katz was Marketer of the Year for SAF...and many of us purchased his web $ite$ and yearly "update$"...and the stories go on and on...then the bankruptcy and now this....so he has become a "trusted nationwide online florist"...kinda reminds me of an oxymoron using those words all together knowing how we all feel about OG's...

I thought Greg sold KCFLORIST.com to Phillip's a couple of years ago...

.

My understanding was that he sold it to his attorney during the bankruptcy to pay off debt....to the attorney....none of us ever got our money as we were dumped into his chapter whatever...I sure could use that money now....enough to pay my rent for 6 months! ....just sad to see that he went this way after being such a rising star...

I too bought one of his sites. Never got my money back either.

I'm just sitting here shaking my head :boggles:

He offered it around (to me as well) about 2 months ago - had decided to close down the whole shebang.

I am betting he's the only Marketer of the Year to have the dubious distinction of a slimcast sent by FTD to warn everyone not to fill his orders.

I bet you have to sting them pretty good for that distinction.

Sad indeed.....Failing is understandeable, burning friends not so.....

Oh hell.. I shoulda looked in this thread earlier... the "remember when" title made me think it was a retro thing...

About KCFlorist

KCFlorist.com was developed by Gregg Katz of Katz Floral Design in Kansas City, MO in the mid- to late-90s. Thanks to a simple user interface, secure platform, and prompt nationwide delivery, sales increased by more than 70% after just one year. Since then, Katz has given e-commerce seminars all over the country and launched several other online flower shops for fellow florists. Today, thanks to Katz's vision and success, KCFlorist is part of a larger Midwest florist group, Phillip's Flowers and Gifts, after Katz retired from the floral industry in 2008.

With award winning flower shops and more than 85 years of floral experience, Phillip's is ranked among the top 1% of florists in North America by both FTD and Teleflora. More importantly, as a third-generation, family-owned business, KCFlorist's new owner still offers the personal service and attention to detail of a real florist. The Katz and Phillip families are proud of the very positive and seamless transition. With Phillip's added resources, KCFlorist is uniquely positioned to serve its customers in Kansas City and beyond with the best in local and nationwide florist delivery for many years to come.

PUKE...gag..... PUKE....... what a PUTZ!

So Philip's bought it, and now they gather and send back to KC, just like the rest of the country....

Did I mention GreGG's a PUTZ!

Crash and burn is an understatement...

Anyone check his Myspace or Facebook? They used to be funny...

Sad........

Some random thoughts:

When Gregg came on like gangbusters a few years ago and immediately won the the Marketer of the Year award, I thought....he really hasn't been around long enough to prove himself or hasn't paid his dues, yet. He had great ideas and talked a great line.

Sometimes we are hesitant to let newcomers become really involved in our industry until they have proven that they are for real and paid their dues. Same goes for new members applying to Flower chat....it seems we need to wait for a short time to be sure they are for real.

If newbies come on slowly and test the waters, I am more inclined to watch them and see what they have to offer to our industry and ultimately maybe accept their ideas. When they come on really strong at first....I usually have some bad vibes.

I have watched human nature for a long time. The ones that know it all from the beginning tend to fade from the scene. The ones that sit back and watch and learn from others tend to stay a while and gradually fit right in.
