New Member Introduction

Hi - I am a new member - I work for Peterkort Roses in Hillsboro Oregon. We are a wholesale grower of roses, as well as lilies, stephanotis, cymbidium, cattleya and ladyslipper orchids, and maidenhair fern plus holly for the holiday season. I am the third generation in the business. We primarily market our flowers to the Northwest US region. Our website is www.peterkortroses.com. Some of the new and interesting things we are trying: we are now growing oriental and asiatic lilies - this product is really for our local market only because we pick them in a more mature state. This makes them hard to ship ( more inclined to be damaged) but the color is better and they open up faster - you don't have to wait two weeks. Also we are exploring the area of garden type roses. We call them "garden roses" but they are grown in our greenhouses like all the rest of our roses. However, they have different, more old-fashioned shapes than the hybrid tea roses which are our bread and butter. Check out our website if you want to take a look at what we are growing.

Welcome to FlowerChat!! I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Amy - yes we will ship outside our area. We will not ship our lilies, just roses, cymbidiums (in season in Winter), holly. We do not ship lilies because we pick them more open, they get more shipping damage but they are excellent for the local market. Please call our greenhouse number (503) 628-1005 if you need more info. We charge a $9 box charge and we do have minimums to make it worth shipping.

Welcome! I'm glad you followed the referral link back. I linked because I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the Amalia roses, as well as the garden roses. I think we're spoiled here in Oregon and I like to rub it in a little! :thumbsup

You suggested to me at one of the Teleflora shows that I could link to your site from our wedding and event site. I did that and I think it has been well received. Brides love to look at the roses!

Again, so glad you're here! You will love it!

Hi Michelle - I'm glad you have been able to make use of the web site. It's nice to have something for the micromanaging brides to do instead of calling you every five minutes right?

Sandra
