Has anyone ever made the Rotary emblem for a funeral? I am a member of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club and one of our members just passed away today. I would like to send the emblem to the funeral. I thought the form for the piece was available from my wholesalers, but neither Delaware Valley or Pennock have the item. Can anyone assist me?

This piece is available from John Henry. My local wholesaler carries it, so you might check. John Henry # is 866-448-8300.

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your input. I found this item on John Henry's website:

It is for silk flowers and I would like to make the design in fresh. Is the form you have for silk or fresh flowers? I cannot obtain the item from either of my wholesalers as previously mentioned. They say they don't have it. Would even settle for making it in silk if necessary, but would prefer fresh.

Anyone know where I can get this piece pronto??? I was thinking I could just use a wreath form, but how would you make the spokes? We don't get the requests to make items like this emblem, so I could use some advice.

We've had requests for two set pieces recently and made them ourselves cutting the shapes out of styrofoam. We did a Steeler football and a #8 in colors for a race fan.

Perhaps the John Henry Rotary emblem is in styro as well. Use fresh carnations, snap them off really short--down to the calyx, then insert a toothpick right into the bottom leaving half of the toothpick to push into the foam. It takes lots of carnations, so you might want to use blue or gold ribbon, too, to save some money. (Our #8 was only about 18" tall x 12" wide and it took around 80 carnations. Our football was around 30" wide x 20" tall and took around 150 carns plus gold button pomps and other accessories).

Good luck....I'm a Rotarian too!

As a former Rotary secretary, and resident florist, I had to do a couple of these. Like Sue, I used the styro form and carns and poms and sprayed the heck out of them.
