sales tax

One MINOR detail. Teleflora doesn't charge sales tax.

That's one of the reasons (IMNTBHO) why TF, FTD and almost all the other OGs are successful. The customer notices athat there is no sales tax being charged and figures that this must be a BARGAIN.

At the very least, based on my analysis, TF and FTD SHOULD be charging consumers sales tax. After all, they charge us florists state sales tax on services associated with Dove and Mercury. And, AFAIK a merchant cannot choose to charge sales tax to one class of customer and NOT to another class.

But what do I know!

I know there was a rumor going around about them having to pay sales tax on orders they take from Maine residents. I believe they are supposed to BUT they get away with it somehow because they don't have a "property" here. Hmm, I thought their members were their property? (LOL) I for one would love to see them have to pay sales tax to my state....because that would be one way to prove they're "gathering" orders from our residents and would reinforce why their ads in our yellow pages SHOULD specifically state where they are located... not "your neighborhood florist" like 800F states. It would include all of them... I'm sure JF, 800, PF don't pay sales tax to the state...
