Search by price on web sites

I intentionally did not use shop by price on my site.

Also I put some moderately priced items first. Guys usually just pick the first thing they see. I want it to be the 59.99 not the 29.99. Besides I don't have anything that inexpensive except a budvase maybe, and it's gonna take a lot of del$$$ to get a budvase del'd here.

I suppose I can understand not wanting to put it on a site, however, I think it gets people to where they want to be faster. Most people know what price range they want to be in already and don't want to fuss to find it.

If one doesn't have it on their site and the customer can't find the price range they want they might be inclined to shop with a site that does. I think shop by price is a good idea.

David,
We find that people search for fresh flowers (HB, HA, GWS, etc) often by price......

We find that search for sympathy stuff by what Style or Colors appeal to them -- then price is second.

I agree with Erlene that shoping by price gets them to where they want to be faster. This helps to keep them from getting annoyed at your site & clicking off/out to another site.

Women tend to "browse" more on a site than men......Men want to just "get it done"!!

Do your demographics show that most of your shoppers are male or female? YOung or older than age 40?? What geographic area do you draw from? (White color, blue color, international? executive? any speific business types).

this kind of information may help you to determine whether or not you want to put it on.

Regards,
Cheryl

While guys might zip through a site quicker, I'm not sure they just go for the cheapest. I think men know what they want to spend, and go to that range. But I think women are cheaper. My unofficial survey shows me that my male customers spend more, and know what they want to spend coming in. We all shop by price, why make it difficult? Just wondering.

Not trying to suggest making it difficult, Ivy.
I do believe that everyone has a target amount that they want to spend. Our job is to "tempt" them enough that maybe, just maybe, they will spend a little more, and that they will spend it with us!

We also find that women are more picky shoppers. Women want to know about the exact color, or flowers, etc.
Men have a total price in mind, and will spend what it takes to get them there.

As a catalogue shopper, I often both shop by price and browse by product. All depends upon how hurried I am to get something done.

Cheryl, I was kind of agreeing with you. I think price and product are the way to go. You're right in saying it gets them where they want to go faster. We are all in the same hurry and if you have $50.00 to spend, you want to know where to spend it. I am just redoing my site, so I know nothing about nothing.( I hired someone who does;) ) My own habits are what I go by. When I have to search out a price for too long, I am usually done shopping, or assume its not my budget. JMO

I think many men have a total benefit in mind and have calculated
exactly how much it'll cost to them to get it ;)

We all do, but when do we get what we want at the price we want to pay?

Why you aren't suggesting.......something SEXUAL in nature, are you???
