SEO basics for small businesses (Part 10)

I have followed all of the blog posts, read them, think I absorbed them. <shrug, dunno?>

I am still wondering about page building. I am driving myself nuts with tedium building all of the pages for individual communities. Each page so far has a link to the city offices, links to all of the schools in that community, and any large medical clinic/hospital. Am I spinning my wheels and wasting my time linking to all of these? I have absolutely no hope of most of them linking back to me. Somewhere in my tangled mind I got it into my head that outgoing links would still be good.

So? Am I wasting my time or more importantly hurting myself with all of these outgoing links?

I've also included a google map on each page, and a couple of my top selling items. Anything else I should add/substract?

Thanks for any input.

Who you link out to says a lot about the "community" you are in. Outbound links build credibility, inbound links build authority.
