I have relented (that means capitulated, Heather) and just went live with a new website that is not a WS sponsored site. Cathy has nudged me several times over the years to dump the TF site so now I have made the leap over to the independent side.

www.miouxflorist.com is the new site, the current tf site is www.mioux.com

yes, I know there are pricing issues as well as a few typos, I may get around to changing those issues sometime. just kidding.

one nice feature is that my web co and my pos co work well together. All internet orders will transfer to my POS without any retyping.

Joe, I like the look. It's defniitely the nicest WebSystems site I've seen. WebSystems is the same co. as your POS company, so they should work very nicely together for you.

You may want to have them look into this spacing issue:

As you can see, the left sidebar stays right to the edge of the screen.

Good luck with the new site!

the spacing thing doesn't show up as severe as it is in your example. does it make a difference on what size resolution one uses?

and thanks

does not diaplay well at all in my old IE 6.5 ...

see if you can track users/ browers...

you will be surprised how many are still on old systems

loaded ff --

something is definately not right with the overall display...

page is out of wack - if i expand page in my 24" monitor -- forget about viewing this page...

seems the container is not working....

the left menu is not appearing to be a part of the page

I see this spacing issue on Firefox but not on IE.

This only occurs on the homepage, not the category pages.

I see this spacing issue on Firefox but not on IE.

This only occurs on the homepage, not the category pages.

It's a CSS, browser issue messed up in FireFox, Mozilla, Safari, and acts funny in Opera once it's loaded all the images and menu disappear and in IE 6 and older the menu shows up below the images.
Only works correctly in IE 8 for me.

Who's photo's are they? Still looks like a ws photo..... sorry 'bout that but it does to me. But what do I know any way.

It looks great on my mac!

Congrats!!!
You won't look back!!!

ok, so the page doesn't display correctly in Ie6, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Safari, but looks fine in ie8, google chrome.

thanks I will inquire about the fixes tomorrow.

joe

Joe, love the colors, the new site looks great!!!

While your inquiring, ask them about the small issue in the attached image. I don't think that black text pricing is supposed to be there, it never changes...

Best wishes...

Joe, I'm using Firefox, and do not see the spacing problem. Of course, we all know how techie (un-) I am.......

Just a beautiful job that you did!

Beautiful site, congratulations. Next, you need to work on all your links to your tf site moved to your new site!
Joe,

This is critical: Make sure the folks at websystems set up 301 redirects when the other site goes offline. Redirect the old domain to the new, and have redirects cover all the old pages. If they don't know what this is about, find someone who does ... otherwise it's like moving your store and not forwarding the phone lines.

Ryan

Joe - Ryan is absolutely correct. In fact, you may just want to make your new site miouxflorist.com and redirect the new mioux.com there. IMO it's better to keep your old, existing domain name as your primary site.

I also want to clarify something.....

Florists who have WS hosted sites can do a lot of customization. The sites generally won't be as search engine friendly as good indy hosted sites like Ryan's or the ones produced by a few other non-WS florist specialists.

Joe's move makes sense since he will be able to seamlessly import the orders into his POS. His costs will likely be lower, too. BUT, he could have customized the TF site with a lot of the content he'll be adding to the new site.

WS hosting works well for some, and most florists do not take advantage of the customization features built right into the platforms.

Does Strider integrate with FloristWare? (geez, moved credit cards today... what could be next? LOL ) I'll go ask this in the support area...

Joe, love the new look..........just a fuzzy picture on one of them that I noticed.

Joe, the new website looks great!

As far as the spacing thing, with my new website, it looks great on my computer, but I've had other floral friends tell me, and I went to someone else's computer to check out, and my wording does overlap on theirs. So I think monitor size/resolution does make a difference.
