I do not have a web site. I mainly teach floral arrangement, container planting for color, and planting for cut arrangements. I work with non-profit groups. I was referred to the site by a blog I was reading. I am a Master Gardener and can contribute information on growing cut flowers for the south. I operate out of my home.

Hi and thank you for your interest in our community. Are you a registered business in your community?

Hi Sondra,

Thank you for your interest in our community. I think you might be better served by checking out Ubloom.com, it is a wonderful website with fantastic advice and hands on TV type episodes that will inspire and educate you. This forum is more for professional florists (running retail shops for the most part).

I think you are doing a wonderful thing, teaching to non-profits! It is my dream to one day be a master gardner.

Best of luck to you!

Hi again Shines... thanks for your response. Unfortunately this really isn't the site for you. It's specifically for professional business people and employees.

You are doing a wonderful thing and Amy's advice is great. Keep up the wonderful work you do.

Best wishes!

V

Thank you I will try out Ubloom, I am looking for directions on the puppy bouquet. Any ideas?

Hi Sondra,

I think J (Ubloom) might have had something similar in one of his "shows". Try a search on his site.

Best of luck to you!!!

No you're not losing it... yet. ;0

Ok Guys - If this applicant is who I think it is.......She would be a great asset as she has almost as many years in this industry as I do.

Shines = aka Sondra Farmer ????

If it is Sondra, then she has had her fair share of unfortunate circumstance like I have.

Rick, even if that's the case we need to draw the line somewhere. Members need to be involved in a licensed business.

If this person is who you think she is, she certainly may reapply down the road as her circumstances change.

Thanks.

Well, Like JB, I have been known to play devil's advocate from time to time.......Just out of curiosity......Based on my current situation, would I be accepted if I were a new applicant?

I don't have a business website.
I do have 25 years in this industry
I am an accredited member of AIFD
I am working freelance, based out of my home.

What would be your verdict?

[EDIT] - btw, I don;t mean this to be mean-spirited or negative in any way.........like I said, just me playing Devil's advocate. Love V's posts and she always has great knowledge to share.

Honey, This old horse done been beat so many times......I don't feel it anymore.

"WHIIIIIINEY" ( or however you type the sound of a horse )

  • If your acreditation is current, employed or not, welcome.
  • If you freelance in floral design, as an employee for others, welcome.
  • If you freelance in floral design & are a registered business, paying business taxes & whatnot, welcome.
  • If you come here telling us you freelance in gardening/teaching gardening ...... I'd have to say no.

There are many garden forums, and Ubloom is a wonderful asset for hobbyists, or those not inimately involved in the floral industry.

Once again, (poor horse) these are my personal specs, and the way the system is run is so that if another's specs are different, they balance.

Rick, I am NOT getting into this debate again.
