Should any pages be hidden from websurfers?

As I build pages for each community I deliver to, I'm wondering if those pages should be accessible to the public and search engine spiders. I've been building them so that they would be, with a little content about that specific community.

Once those are done, I thought I'd go back and build pages for each of those items of interest. Would there be any benefit or detriment one way or the other as to whether or not they show? I'm talking about the search engines indexing these pages. I don't quite understand this part of it, because I think if I don't make them available for indexing then it hurts my visibility.

By the way. I was pretty sure I would never want to do site building for a living ~ now I'm QUITE sure. I spent hours with a laptop picking up an extremely weak signal yesterday, and only got three or four pages completed. It was excruciating. I finally moved out to where the signal was excellent, unfortunately it's also where the TV is which is why I generally avoid that, too much distraction. Anyway, the signal was so strong every change and search I made was lightning quick.

I STILL wanted to climb up a wall.

$150/month for somebody else to do it? Yep, leaning that way.

If you have content on your site you MUST make it available to both visitors and the search engines or you risk being banned from Google. If the content is relevant to flowers / flower delivery why not make it visible to the visitors anyway?

Make sure the pages are relevant to your site and try to link to them from your blog, or other places as well so they appear to be relevant and not just a doorway page for those areas. Also a good way to get banned from Google if they are just about ranking higher.

Thanks Duane. Great tip about linking with the blog. I was wondering because I ran into all of these options about the page showing and wondered why I would take the time to create and build a page and then not have it indexed.

Now that I think about it some more, I guess if you have a website with pages that cannot be seen unless you are a subscriber, you would not want those pages indexed ~ duh.....
