Well, I couldn't stand it. I called Flowers& mag to find out if they knew who the winner was..

yes they do, !st, 2nd and 3rd have all been contacted.. I wasn't any of them..dang!

But that's OK.. Really I just wanted to get in the magazine, so I accomplished my goal! Placing would have just been icing!

But I'm glad most of you who did comment did like my #7. Maybe it wasn't your fav, but ya still liked it even though you didn't know it was mine! That makes me happy..

Any hoo, just thought I'd let you guys know.
I will try again next year!

Aw I know just how you feel. It is cool to get in the magazine though.
And yes #7 rocked! :thumbsup
 
Shannon, I really like your design, picked it out as likely to be yours from the start, and thought you stood as good a chance as any. It is a great accomplishment to be in a NATIONAL industry magazine, and winning would have just been the icing. But with a great cake, who needs icing?
 
I agree with everything that's already been said! Congrats on getting in that mag, Shannon. I know you'll win next time, but you've already won!
 
really, I think my design may have been a little confusing for the average designer. They may not have "gotten" it.

A little secret....
When I made it I thought about who would be deciding the finalists. I wasn't too concerned with the actual vote by the readers. I just wanted to get into the magazine. I wanted something that would get their attention. I almost submitted a "little wad" as I've heard so many rock star designers call them, such as Sharon McGunkin and also, Wilton Hardy this past weekend.
So to me "a little wad" sounded unfavorable, so that's why I did what I did.

Like I said, I'm really happy I got in the mag. It was the first time I ever tried, which made it that much sweeter!

Same as Twila doing the Sylvia Cup that time...

good question, believe it or not... I'm done for the year.

Had I won The Colorado Cup, I would have been going to nationals next weekend. If the winner can't compete, then I'd be asked to go since I was 1st runner up. I don't see that happening. The winner had the eye of the tiger!!
