I well understand the conversion process when it comes to sending orders from the US to Canada. The only question I have is when the florist down here sends an order North, they type in the dollar value in US dollars. Does ths "system" send you that order converted to Canadian dollars of does the florist up there have to do the math?

Secondly, I notice that many of the Canadian florists have a van indicated as part of their listing. Sometimes there is a value after it to supposedly indicate a separate delivery charge. Some listings, however, just have the van and no dollar amount. What does that mean??

Van means delivery is not included in the minimums shown.

Cdn florist receiving a US inwire does the conversion. If you have POS software, most will do the math, handle the taxes & commission discount.

$100 USD inwire = $135 Cdn
$135 - 8.83 GST - 9.95 Delivery - 3.27 Commission Discount
= $112.95 for the arrangement.

Yes ... Canadian shop (or their POS) does the conversion.

$100 Outwire = $100 Arr + 9.95 Del + 38.48 Exchange + Service charge + tax on service charge (if needed). Service charge & tax are in CDN funds and stay with the sending shop.

Filling US florist receives $109.95 USD.

Now you raised all sorts of questions.

What percent of Canadian florists actually have POS systems? Just your best guess. I'm looking to see what percentage have to do their own calculations.

Just for example, please take a look at Vancouver listings. You have listings anywhere from $25 to $50 for minimums. Some have additional delivery shown and most do not. Are we to assume you have delivery pools up there too and are we to figure that all those florists can deliver anywhere within Vancouver for those minimums including delivery??

I'm just trying to determine if Canadians have as much problems understanding the codifications as we do down here.

Feel free to make any comments.
