Am I the only one seeing this........

FTD and Teleflora are sending us orders for items on their website for less money than they're advertising.
With FTD it is limited to the loose cut tulip orders. With Teleflora it's a variety of pieces.

I really don't have extra time this week to be checking every order they send us, but it looks like I'll have to. I send an "ask" message and they promptly send a "price change". But why is it happening in the first place?

I don't want to start a debate about why you should or shouldn't accept .com orders....I just want to spread the word to those who do.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

Remember they have different sites and different pricing on those sites.

Also, they vary the pricing from time to time to measure the effectiveness of different prices.

Thirdly, HQ / .com orders come from a variety of sources - not just FTD.

The responsibility for getting the appropriate amount of dollars to fill each order now rests squarely on the shoulders of the filling florist.

For stores that join WSs primarily to fill, the days get tougher with so many orders being sent under-priced. Think about the added labor cost of checking prices, sending price change requests and following up.

But please think twice before sending less flowers to offset the lack of sufficient delivery dollars. You too could end up being one of those florists highlighted in the latest consumer shopping expose'.

One of the main reasons I shut off their access to my store...

Oh and, Walmart, Hallmark, Sears, krogers...

Mark stop it...they are tired of hearing it :soapbox:

Our newest one today was...

an "out of area" call (on ID) some lady who didn't speak very good English (what else is new) says she's from FTD Headquarters and has an order for us, would we fill it? I told her only if it comes over the merc, she then says "We don't send our orders over the computer". HUMMM....big HUMMM, if Headquarters can't send an order over the merc, something's wrong! Needless to say, no order came in. Very suspicious. With so many old directories floating around the internet now, you have to be very careful.

I'm Not and preaching it myself....

Got a call from FTD (twice) to fill a retrans order. Said no twice.
I remember them skimming on those orders.

With computers, cam and digital, lots of people take picture and send a copy to the sender. I am surprise more people don't get caught. or if they do, we sure don't hear about it.

I have a list of shop and .com and HQ...DO not take any orders form any on that list. No and, ifs or butt....Eleminate lots of problems.
Also tf Hq, don't undertand that when they send the US price to Canada, it does not even covers the exhange, GSt (tax we must charge on a us order) and delivery fee. THey think everyone delivers for $5.00....What a joke with todays Gas price.

Been preaching this for a while....Say No....

As a added note, Had to go downtown today to a store, Passed by the other flower shop. 3 people, all outside having a smoke. I dont think anyone was inside maning the store or phone. I had 5 people in my store working all day, not counting me... So who is the busiest???? THis goes up to 6 people tomorrow and Friday , 7 for Sat with 3 delivery people....

And I say No to .com, Hq, etc....100% orders....

Even if it is their SRP but it isn't mine..they get an ask. So far I have had about 20 orders cancelled and guess what...so what. If we cannot make money on it then let it go elsewhere. And the best are the real OG's..some of their orders are decent and others are just too funny to do anything more than reject it. I wonder how many orders will bounce around and around this year. I think florists in general are wising up.
Even regular folks are getting educated...I love when they ask "you charge for delivery?" Once you ask them where they get their gas, they feel really silly.
Our Thursday is really busy and Friday is a bear...afraid to look at Sat...
Good luck everyone...

Thanks for the word, Holly. I noticed this several weeks ago for the first time (we're not a super busy shop, so I ususally take the time to verify pricing). Sent a puzzled message for price increase, asking why they would transmit an order for less than tf.com lists for. No response, other than the requested price increase.
I look forward to the day when I can say no, but we're just getting started on the toot-your-own-horn-and-not-theirs bandwagon. We'll catch up to all you fearless leaders soon!
Good luck everyone (I'm amazed that anyone has the time to check in right now. Just goes to show you how this little board becomes part of your life so easily. I read it over my morning coffee, like my dad used to read the paper!)
take good care this week,
tracy

Nope. Me 2.

No longer FTD but for TF what I found is this. They send the orders at the current suggested price. The current suggested price for TF was last done in 2004.

Their prices on their web site are higher for many items.

Got an order a couple days ago and said, I can't do this. Slow day so went to Teleflora.com. I figured I needed at least $5 more and sure enough. The TF web site was $5 higher than the 2004 price. And of course they included their standard $4,95 for delivery. Our MD delivery charge is $7.50.

So I sent an ask for the difference including higher delivery and I got a response in less than 3 minutes.
