Slum Dog Millionaire

What was just as interesting was the NBC report regarding the "slum" that this was filmed regarding. Amazing businesses and working people there........I was stunned by the workmanship and work ethics of those who actually live there. Much more than I would spending two hours in a theatre, which the closest one is over 3 hours both ways.

I saw it last week in the theater and expected it to suck >(MOST >Oscar movies do IMO, but it was actually quite good.

I was worth paying for.

Excellent movie.
Really surprised that such an intellengent, well done movie, with no big name actors, captured the big award.
I want to see "The Wrestler" love Mickey Rourke.

The movie was very well done with great acting and worth of an award.

That being said, I thought it was so totally brutal that I am still having many horrible thoughts about what I saw. I know I emphathize to much with the characters, but, that is who I am.

I could not go see it again. It is just too Brutal.

I have seen this and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Best film i have seen in ages.

I am like Carol though and will think about the little ones in mumbai where it started. Very heart warming though...

Danny Boyle the director seems really down to earth and he accepted the award in the style of tigger from winnie the pooh (cartoon character). He had told his children that he would do this as he had spent so much time working on it. He also took the oscar back to the small village where he came from and took it into the social club where he drank to let them all enjoy it.

It's a must see on the big screen. So much of what makes this movie special is the way it is filmed. For those that have seen it, the scene where the kids are being chased through the slums, it is filmed in a way that makes you feel like you are running with them. These effects would be lost on a TV. I agree with Carol, the first 45 minutes you may sit there and think, I cannot watch this. But it then quickly comes together and you realize those scenes are so relavant to the story being told. It is just so well done, and the screenplay was brilliantly written.
Have a look here, my sister is a media teacher and does a fab movie review blog....have a look!

It was unbelievably brutal, but, I'm sad to say, probably acurate.
There are brutal things that happen to our children in this world.

When my children were younger, I used to try to explain to them what a blessing it was that they were born into the culture they lived it.
And, to be aware of how others live and to thank g-d for their blessings.

It is easier to imagine how people live in other parts. The down shots of the slum opened a whole new view. I got to thinking, what a great place to open a flower shop.

Thom, the video has been deleted... not surprising.

I will go see it in the theatre.

I understand that we need to be aware of how great we have it here and probably need to see that kind of thing once in a while to keep us on our toes.....but, I personally cannot handle that type of scenes more than one every several years. I do feel I am aware, but, also don't have the need to see it for it to be real to me. I am forever trying to understand "mans inhumanity to man."
I agree the story and acting were outstanding. But, never again for me.
