We pulled out our 'year of the flood' smudge pots today and had a great laugh, and some warm and fuzzies.
They are filthy as heck and covered in you don't even want to know what.

However Grandpa Carey loved hotdogs, OMG more than anything else on earth.

So we started reminiscing about how each year Grandpa would start up the smudge pots and then cook hotdogs on top of them. He was in his own sort of Heaven. He would eat them with english muffins he burned on top of the same smudge pots and would say "nothing like a great hotdog and a good smudged up english muffin" :>

I was wondering if anyone else out there had these really old (before OSHA) stories. I have heard about the eating with cardette's (we all do that) but there has got to be some great "once upon a time stories" or "Those were the days stories"

Just thought I would share and ask.

As far as I know I have only seen them in agriculture it is a portable heater that pumps out over 20,000 BTU's of heat for greenhouses, or in Fla they used to use them outside when Fla. used to grow oranges (remember those days?)

Our old ones look like fat ugly garbage cans with really wierd lids
