A bride wants a clutch bouquet with snapdragons (white only) with a royal ribbon wrapped around the bottom. Has anyone ever done this kind of bouquet and if so, any tips on making it look its best? Also, how many did you need for a good size bouquet?

SNAPdragons

Can't see how this could work unless you wire them and tape them and even at that i'm thinking they will wilt after an hour or two depending on the weather that day.
I wouldn't be able to guarantee it, therefore it wouldnt leave the shop.

I was thinking the exact same thing. When snap stems get warm (ie. in a bride's nervous hands) they can, and will, bend or break. I have had it happen in the short time that it took me to wrap up snaps, I couldn't imagine if a bride were holding them all day!

Think about this bridal bouquet as a handtied everyday bouquet that would go in a vase.

LL first then the snaps wired/strung & taped....It's do-able...

You could also put the snaps in an oasis holder and make it look like a clutch. I would be concerned about the tips curling, so you would need to straighten the snaps before using them. You can read how to do this in another post. (Sorry, don't know who to credit for putting them in a closet overnight and wrapping them so they remain upright).

Snaps are reasonably priced, so you could also make a sample...and also show it to your bride. She will love the attention.

Thank you all so much for the thoughts. I'll try a sample and see what I can do. I'm trying to get her to at least add some other flowers. Hopefully she will decide to do that.

I would just be honest with her about the properties of the flower (stem could break, tips may curl), then she can make her decision with full knowledge. I like your idea about getting her to have some other flowers in the bouquet. I have heard that if you pinch off the very top of the flower tip it will not curl but don't know that to be 100% true. I guess it's worth a try when you're experimenting.

Have you thought about suggesting Stock?? it looks alot like snaps but is bushier (sp?), easier to use, looks great in this style of bouquet and even has a nice fragrance. I would show her a clutch with stock vs snaps.. might make your life easier

snaps

I have a picture of a snapdragon bouquet. It is too big to upload here. send me your email and I will email it to you. We did not have a problem at all with the snaps. They did very well.

When you say they did very well what exactly are you saying? Did you see what the bouquet looked like by dinner time? I'm just curious because i've come across designers who will use almost anything in their bouquets and corsages but dont' really think of what may happen in the heat of the day. I'd love to see a picture of this bouquet and would also like to hear of any pointers you may have on making these snaps last.
