I've been accused of being "me me me" and I don't want to sound like that now, but........

Just got our TF statement. With the statement comes the telefloranews, And guess who's chubby mug is in there? ME!!! Inside cover upper left hand corner! 2nd time I've been in there! The 2 ladies I'm standing with are just dolls! Cindy is an amazing AIFD designer and Erica hasn't been designing for very long.

Erica knows lots of famous designers, She grew up in Hawaii and I think she said she grew up on a flower farm of some sort.
She has the great benefit of getting to work for BJ Dyer! Lucky girl!!

BJ was also in the competetion. I saw his name and Cindys name on the roster that we were given 2 days before the competetion. When I saw Bj's name, I thought, why even bother showing up!! Then I saw 2 AIFD designers and ACTUALLY started crying!!!

So they positioned us in alphabetacal order. Cindy was behind me and BJ RIGHT NEXT TO ME!! HOLY MOLY!! Talk about nerve racking and intimadating! I love BJ!! HE IS SO AWESOME!! I told him my I saw him on the list story and how I'm a cry baby and he said so sweetly, "Oh I'm not the one to beat! I never win these contests" WHOA! more holy moly!! He totally relaxed me. When I finished my sympathy design he said he really liked it! WOW!!

Design contests are so scarry for me, but I love to enter them. The first one I entered I actually got sick, REALLY SICK, and I totally lost! Got REALLY BAD MARKS. But I love to do it, I recommend that everybody should enter competetions, at least once . It's a good experience. Even if it does drive you a little batty!!

Hope this isn't a copyright infringement, if so I'll remove it.

Congratulations!!!:bouncy:
You've got the spirit!! You should be very proud of yourself. Competitions are great, such a learning curve, not all about winning. Win some, lose some but from each you take away something, learning from others there and a lot about yourself, also networking with fellow designers is great. It is fantastic to be able to stretch your own creativity especially since we don't always get to do it on a day to day shop basis. Hope you enter many more and hope more designers will share your enthusiasm.

Great job Shannon. Once I competed in the Sylvia Cup at SAF, cuz "You-Know-How" signed me up. I was scared to death. Didn't win, but I made it thru....YOU ROCK as a WINNER!

If I remember correctly, I think Cindy won the Sylvia cup or she at least placed. I think that's what she said. But I could be mistaken. Her bridal bouquet was just fabulous!

It was funny because while we were all waiting to check in everyone is standing around, some in little groups, some by themselves. And I saw "the eye of the tiger" in Cindy. I wasn't sure who she was until we got to our tables, and I though "uh oh"

Before we went in one of my florists friends I met last year at the 2007 bridal bouquet contest, Charles Martinez, comes in, stands in line and yells across the lobby "When I saw you on the list, I thought not to show up." oh my god, I wanted to die. everybody looked at me and I turned totally red. But Charles is so sweet, I just love him!!

Believe it or not I can be meek once in a while!

And like Logan said, you take away so much from the experience. And you do learn a lot about yourself. I never ever had an anxiety attack before I started competing. I used to think I had nerves of steal, nope I'm just a big scare-dy pants.

Congrats, Shannon! Nice for you to get the press and for us to be able to put a face with the name. Way to go, girl!

Right below your article is one on Marta Land receiving a scholarship to the Education Center. She is a fellow FC'er although I haven't seen her here in a while. (Marta - are you lurking?)

Well its just all about you Shannon is'nt it?
Just kid'n ya-Congratulations! Its nice to be recognized for your talents!!!! You Go.:flowerfac
I try not to let it be...
I didn't even know that was going to be in the tfnews until our rep called to tell me.

Congratulations Shannon! Also kudos the The Flower Smith. Nice mention of her Mother's day promotion.

i'm better at lurking, but i'll try:

congratulations shannon!
don't forget to market your design competition awards
ex. "award winning designer" can/should be in all of your shops advertisements
pictures/awards/trophies can be displayed prominently in your shop or shop window
it is a huge positive reinforcement of your customers decision to use your florist

also a "news release" sent to your local papers --include a picture--
more free advertising!

Vasestuffer, you don't know me very well do you!!! lol

Thanks for the props!!!

I don't do the advertising, Amy does, but rest assured "award winning designer" is always prominently featured in all advertising campaigns, even in the phone book ads.

I keep all of my plaques and certificates and so on at home on a wall. If I owned the store, I'd probably display them there, but I don't own it so they come home with me!

SO UPON FURTHER INSPECTION...........

I actually READ yesterday evening the TFNEWSLETTER. Was curious about the Flower Smith.

I didn't even really read the little article about us 3 girls and the CO cup. Just kinda skimmed over it, Was Just happy to see my mug!

SO sorry to disappoint you Bloomz, but I'm the girl in white. They should have said I was at Cindy's left, Erica is on the left side if you're looking straight at the pic.

Stupid TF!

Sorry for the confusion, I should have read the article!
