I am ready, willing, and prepared to terminate my Teleflora membership, except for one thing.
How am I to send orders to countries outside of North America?
In truth, most of our out of town orders are for Asia, a few for Europe, and a few for Africa.
I do not speak all the languages, and I am not an expert in dollar exchange.
As soon as someone can tell me how to serve my customers who need flowers delivered in those areas, then I will send off my letter, with thanks to you all.
Your thoughts?

I assume you've already looked at this???......

What I don't understand about this site is:

"For your convenience a currency converter is provided. Please keep in mind that only Russian Rubels (RUB) are accepted for credit card charges. If your credit card company invoices in a different currency, they will calculate the price based on their official daily exchange rate." :wide:

Why rubles????

HQ for this company is in Switzerland, and just so all of you are made aware, the continued decline of the US greenback as the "traditional" world currency is now being re-enforced in many countries around the world, and IF it should ever happen, that China STOPS accepting the US dollar, the US economy is finished, as we know it!!
Same thing happened in Britain in the early 70's, and the inflation rate went through the roof!!

there is IRIS too but they have a fee as well.
at least its only a once a year fee.
or you could set something up with another shop to forward the orders to them and have them send them.
and it's NOT necessary!!

Don't forget about the Petals Network. They have a program for florists where you get discounted pricing, online catalogues for each country, and some pricing by request. With no annual fees.

Joanne,

Just playing the devil's advocate here. Why are you wanting to terminate with TF? Is it because of their stable of og's that make it a morals decision or are their fees and demands becoming more costly than merits the ability to send your orders?

If that's the case, then I would hazard that any of the others mentioned here are good ones. IIRC, flowershop network charges an additional $15 for international orders in addition to the $300 annual fee so I don't know that they are your answer although they use TF for orders going to cities where they (fsn) does not have a member.

Purely a financial desision.
With the bulk of my orders being transmitted within North America, there isn't much need for a middleman like a wire service anymore. I usually send our orders to someone one of us knows, or has met, or we've been to their shop or whatever, and just give them my cc#.
On top of that, it may be my imagination, but I think a lot of the better flower shops are dropping the wire services, and it seems like the quality of shops in the services is getting worse than ever. Could be that with them losing membership, the big 3 are willing to accept anyone as a member.

May I ask you for this next waltz??.......<humming a tune>....:)

Mikey, that dance card could get full fast.

Interesting post, even with labour to find a shop and send an order by phone, it's cheaper for sure. But the stumbling block is overseas, as we send a lot overseas, so nice to see there are a few options

Just announced late yesterday: Teleflora purchases Petals Network. This will be really interesting since Teleflorist AU/NZ will be their competitor (long story... disputes between all the int'l TFs that run back to the 80's).

Joanne - another florist friend expressed concern about leaving a WS for international sending and I recommended he just team up with a friendly local shop to transmit the orders on their account. They made the split equitable between the two stores (each earned a bit) and the orders all got out.

Not much of a competition - Teleflora Australia is a joke, I rarely come across any advertising for them, not even online. We dropped them several years ago due to decling order no's and the fact that not even our accountant could make sense of their statements. We get a little from Petals - the future could be interesting with the acquisition however we were told we shouldn't see any difference.
