very nice. we're really dead today so i'm trying to be good and use up crappy old silk scraps. My first is really ugly light blue aggapanthus and half an old hosta plant. i'm calling it aggauglyosta. the second is scraps of greenery, one left over water lily and a couple cheap balls. it's called orbinski's peeing waterlily. can you tell I have too much time on my hands?

Lori-I just really love your stuff-we must have similar floral souls!

Jenifer-I think you produced very nice designs out of old junk! It doesn't look like old junk anymore! Extra credit points for the creative names!!

Thanks Sandy, I'm thinking about challenging my designers to make silks using the leftovers. maybe a bonus if they sell their "specials". We really need to do a better job of using what we have but still keep it fun. I've been accused of taking the fun out of their jobs lately.

KABERS - take those left-overs......DIVIDE them up between your designers......and let them go to town......First one to use up their pile of leftovers gets a special reward of some kind.

Lori,
where did you get those Callas? Beautiful Callas!

I got them at Carbone wholesale...They are an open cut calla from SA...usually available feb-may and then oct-nov

I had 10 of those babies in my bridal bouquet when I got married. It is my favorite flower in the whole world..

They are is Boston and cranston, RI....

I believe I paid 2.50 a stem...not sure if they ship....

They are a lovely calla, I am just not crazy about the cheap SA tube like callas, these are in a whole different league....I will ask what farm they get them from and if the ship on Monday...at least if I get the farm name then maybe your wholesaler can get them shipped direct from the farm...

We used to have 4 different local farmers that grew these, they were spectacular....but these are a really good second best..

another place that carries a really nice calla is adam zamis in worcester, ma he may be able to ship also...He has really really nice product...We get some of our flowers for the TF shows through him and the designers always comment on how impressed with his quality they are....

Lori, that design is beautiful and the flowers and colours you have chosen look gorgeous... Thanks for sharing...

Kaber, you have done a fab job with old stuff, which will hopefully be turned into some cash soon. Not ugly at all ..

I have a shed full of silks that sometimes i just feel like burning. This is always my plan when i get a minute!!

When you do your silks, Try this tip - Do not stop designing with a particular bunch, stem, or grouping of silks till you have used up every leaf, bloom, petal.

Also, When I do silks - I use a process I call 'chain' designing. I take and group various silk supplies by types and colors - Lets take a Christmas grouping of red and green.

We have red tulips, red roses, red carnations, red berries, holly, fir, and some bits of other red silks......I might start with a wreath, then a centerpeice, then a birdhouse decoration, then a smaller wreath, then a vase design, ending up with little napkin rings and tiny accessory designs.

OK the info on those particular calls is all wrong...

I get two different types of open cut calls, SA ones that are nice for 2.50...they come in a 5 back with the calla leaves...

The ones in the particular bouquet that are pictured are local grown here in MA in a greenhouse in Woburn...They are packed 5 to a bunch and are 5.50 each(well worth it in my opinion, you will never find a better calla anywhere) Carbone's will ship them if you want them to...

My sales man is Kevin, but Andrea is the manager and flower buyer/orderer...Tell either that Lori from Affairs to Remember sent you for the info...Not sure what the minimum would be to ship, but you all can work that stuff out...The callas are available Feb-May and then Oct -Dec, early feb, early Oct, late may and late december are iffy...it all depends on how warm the evenings are. Callas do not do well if the temps in the greenhouse do not go down at night...
