On Wednesday past , got a call from funeral director looking for a cheap casket spray for a 12 year old girl , a victim of lukemia. Director says it being a social services case she probably wouldn't get paid and not to go over $75.00 and the family wanted some roses in it. Just as I got it greened up , in walks on of the local rotary club members to order something to go to her. He gave me the history , her mother died about 18 months before with breast cancer ,she had to live with her Grandmother . I put away the daisys I was about to use and filled it with alstro, minis , rose , wax and freesia worth about $175.00 and delivered it . It broke my heart to look at this little girl with the 5 o'clock shadow on her head and her thin arms and drawn in face. Counted my blessings that my three are alive and well . Well today an elderly lady comes in and thanked me for the spray , not her Grandmother but a good friend of the family . Somedays I just love to be a florist.

Sunny, That's what makes this business so special....it's all about emotions (something the dot.coms and gatherers don't have) We real florists can make a difference and it would be a sad, sad day if this world only has gatherers and fulfillment stations!!!!

WELL DONE SUNNY!!

Good work florist....
THat to me what you did is being part of a REAL FLORIST.
You will bw rewarded in a differnt way one day.
Bless you!

As odd as it may sound...

I don't think we do these kinds of things for "rewards"!!
I think we do these things because we CARE more than most, and when SUNNY, or any other florist does this, it is because we count our blessings every day, that we can!!
The dot.coms will NEVER understand, the 1800's will never understand, the ivory towers will never understand, and if they get in the way of our personal attachment to life and death, THEY won't have to...we'll do it without them!!
Good work SUNNY...good work.
Mike:)
