Hey....anyone have any sources for "look-alike" containers for the new Teleflora selection guide. I am stuck with them for the moment as far as a website and wire service goes, but I will be @@@@ed if I am going to buy all these containers from them! So I have found a few syndicate sales pieces and some vases that are close from my suppliers, but those boxes they use for Birthday arrangements, anyone have any idea where I can get something like those?
Thanks,

I always ask if substitutions are ok and then use a 4" clear cube ($2 from my local supplier) wrapped with colored mylar and ribbon. I also know John Hancock has some square waterproof boxes, but I don't know how water tight they really are.

Before they came up with the product themselves they used to have a similar look done with a clear cube and tissue wrap. We used a colorful celophane layer and similar gift wrap on the outside. Guess they decided to make an extra buck by providing the package deal. The plastic things are not cheap, so a glass cube would not set you behind on the cost.

Nope they made them easier..Florists like me that had little room to keep paper on hand and couldn't find the right paper, and using an expensive glass cube and then spending time wrapping with paper was just too time consuming for 45.00...now they are easy..cheap and people still like them...

What am I gonna do?....

I'm NOT going to offer what I don't already have. Which is a lot from this new book by the way, but that is the way it goes.

Now with the website. I know longer have a tele website, BUT my suggestion is to take off what you don't have and if that doesn't leave much, and even if it does. Put your own work on it. FILL it with YOUR work. Who's website is it anyway? Telefloras or yours?

It's my website, and I am busy filling it with my lovely creations, but what about sending this stuff out of town? If I am having this kind of trouble, what is everyone else doing. At this point I don't even want to show this book to my customers! Isn't that sad, over 10 yeas in the making and this unusable book is what we get? I can pull it all off my site, but what good is it then? Most shops are not going to have all this inventory in containers, so now what? If we don't put it on the website, or show it to local customers, what good is this book and all the new charges coming along with it? (Nicole?? anyone at Teleflora??)

I agree.... I am in the process of getting out of the wire service as soon as I can because of this book...not that Teleflora cares, but we have been a 35 year member with an impeccable reputation! I get nothing from them in terms of wire business either from headquarters, or Teleflora online no business from find-a-florist, so all this money for the book and its updates when I can not replicate any of it...has tipped the scales for me.

I'm not going to do anything. I'll just tell my customers that I don't have those containers but I can use something similar. In the event that I wire out and order, I will tell the customer that the other shop may not have the exact container but they can do something similar.

It is better to just be upfront and honest about it.

As for the bday cube, you can offer something way nicer and cost you less. You can use a 3" glass cube. Then take a sheet of regular tissue paper and attach it to clear cellophane. What I use are the speedsheets since they have a sticky end. Then take another color and do the same. Place the two at angles of each other. When you are ready to apply to the container, have the cellophane touching the glass and the other piece of the cellophane on the outside. This will protect the tissue paper from getting wet. Make a bow and tie it around the cube with ribbon.

Then you can use a piece of wet foam inside the cube as you will not see it. Although the 3" cube isn't large, since you are using the wet foam, you can make your arrangement look larger. This is actually cheaper than the paperboxes and a nicer presentation with a cube keepsake.

Just my 2 pennies..... :)

Wow... you're lucky.... most affiliates get all sorts of discounted UNprofitable orders, and they fill them wondering why they are not making any money....

I know many incoming wire orders are no longer profitable if you are operating an honest business. I just can not believe that there is nothing coming in here with a significant dollar value attached to it. I hate to see a company like Teleflora so lose sight of what made them good. I have no intention of joining them in their deceit by selling this stuff from the new design book. So I have a huge task on my hands today to remove it from my Teleflora hosted site, and replace it with realistic designs and for this I have paid $400 and now a $14.95 monthly fee? I don't think so!
