Loved it

I had a great time. I learned so much. Made great connections within the industry. Met some wonderful florists. Food was terrific. Well-organized. Not much I can say that wasn't top notch. Looking forward to next year at Wild Horse Ranch outside Phoenix.

Well...the convention was great - the best part for me is being with the winners.

Paul Goodman did a great seminar on how to survive in tough times.

Renato did a killer blog presentation.

The new Pres of FTD gave a speech for FTD members of his vision for FTD.

Funny comedian.

Good food.

Oustanding varieties were - outstanding. What an incredible room full of flowers and what an aroma.

The hotel, tho a great property with quite a history - sucked in short. I wouldn't say this if it weren't for...

Why do I say this - well it's a long story I'll cut short just by saying one of my party got $900 stolen from her purse that the hotel handled very poorly, while her purse was in their baggage room. There were around 5 protocols broken that led to it, and they did nothing about it but give us lip service. And that lip service we had to repeatedly ask for as they were reticent in contacting us about it. We brought the Palm Beach police in on it.

Too dang bad and we'll see if anything transpires this week. IF nothing does - it's time for the review brigade, and bad reviews they will get. I'm still considering disputing the credit card bill.

If not - I strongly hope SAF doesn't hold one there again. You certainly don't expect that at a $400 a night hotel. (no we paid a blocked rate of $190, but their normal rate is around 400)

But I do generally love SAF conventions and am still glad I went.

Well you asked.....

I got my Transflora newsletter yesterday, the attached notes to Peter's "Industry" speach had some interesting points in it....and of course a FlowerChat mug shot.
Good looking group!

saf convention

it was a good convention and we ran into a lot of old friends. i'm certain that the economy held down attendance .
saf remains the last u.s. group that holds a networking function that is represented by all segments of our industry...retailer...wholesaler...importer...shipper and grower.
the quality of the sessions, food, hotel can all be debated as everyone has an opinion.
however, for me, the true value of a function often comes in "unofficial" discussions in the hallways...between sessions...and, oh yeah...in the bar.

Yea, I can not believe that the baggage room lock was broken (I understand they had one on order.....so they knew about it) AND there was not security cameras in this room (and security cameras all over the hotel and not in the baggage claim room??). Then the lack of concern of promply working on this problem, instead of an assistant manager (they would not ever give this person the name of the manager when they asked) calling and saying it is an internal matter. What really blew me away, is that they did not comp this person the room....even when asked. Pretty @@@@@@ 4 star hotel management and customer service in my opinion.

I suggested they comp the room as a possible temporary solution, and if the issue was resolved we would then pay, but nope.

What do we do in our industry when someone complains about our service - wait for an "internal investigation" before taking care of the customer???

Not hardly.

If Sher doesn't hear something soon - it will be time for some hotels.com and expedia etc reviews on this appalling lack of good service.

"A complaint or problem properly handled could be Art in its highest form"

Whaddya think, should I dispute the credit card bill?

I'm seeing Bloomz and Twila. The woman with short hair looks SO familiar but, I can't place her from that tiny image...the other, I'm not sure.
