Well spring has finally arrived here in Vermont the sap is flowing and I can finally start boiling this weekend. My understanding is congress will be out on Easter break if so I may very well see my neighbor Senator Leahy as he tends to hike up past my cabin . If he does I am going to suggest to him to take a look at florist detective. He carries a fair amount of weight in DC and it would be great if someone like him got involved.

And then have him converse with Congressman Dave Camp of Michigan after the break is over :)

I'd be very surprised if, with all the problems facing Congress, they take time to look at Floral Detective.

Not me, maybe not "Congress" but some Congressmen will get a personal tour next Tuesday... I'm driving!!

gee, IF the problems WERE SO BAD they wouldn't be taking a frickin break. They break more than they work!!!!!!!

The only bad problems they seem to be focusing on is the STUPID baseball steriod CRAP. Like the rest of us working stiffs CARE. What a waste of $$$$

So what do you guys expect or wish the government to do about OGs?

Hope nobody holds their breath waiting for action which might come in about 20 years or so, if ever.

How 'bout just hanging up a fresh bouquet with a note on the path. :help:

Isn't he the Senator that Dick Cheney told to go *cough* himself? I like him, btw.

See that rules already in place are enforced. Like provisions from the Lanham Act
§ 1125. False designations of origin, false descriptions, and dilution forbidden

(a) Civil action
(1) Any person who, on or in connection with any goods or services, or any container for goods, uses in commerce any word, term, name, symbol, or device, or any combination thereof, or any false designation of origin, false or misleading description of fact, or false or misleading representation of fact, which—
(A) is likely to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive as to the affiliation, connection, or association of such person with another person, or as to the origin, sponsorship, or approval of his or her goods, services, or commercial activities by another person, or
(B) in commercial advertising or promotion, misrepresents the nature, characteristics, qualities, or geographic origin of his or her or another person’s goods, services, or commercial activities,
shall be liable in a civil action by any person who believes that he or she is or is likely to be damaged by such act.

There are plenty more at the federal (US and Canada) and state level...

One item they were particularly interested in is the collection of sales tax by web sites hosted in other countries and wether or not they are being paid back to the US or state treasuries...

I did notice our state of Michigan is going after cigarettes being purchased on-line and they even have the credit card companys helping Block the Sale...

So if they really wanted to stop these foreign on-line companys from selling flowers back to the USA they could do it just like their kicking the smokers?

I guess time will tell... It seems that when you start pointing out things that are aggregious to the state/fed and not just the retailer they pay much closer attention...

This is one area where Maine would try to step in. Their actions would to make sure that the filling shop in Maine paid extra tax to insure their cut.
That is what the State of Maine is good for, finding new taxes to hit us with.
So far the old "sale for resale" has worked to defer paying tax on an order we get in but if they find out that the proper tax isn't being paid by the sender, they'll find a way to get it out of the filler (meaning me) :hammer:

They might waste a few days on it if you tell them the flowers are possibly on steroids.

Yup he is the very same senator that cased the VP to show just how big a jerk he is. Unfortunately I did not see any signs of the senator being at his old farm house this weekend.
