Actually my problem is that I don't have a sticky enough situation :)

I have an event on Friday and need to glue large callas to the outside of vases. I was going to use the Oasis U Glu but it is back ordered and no one in Southern Ca. has any.

Does anyone have another idea on what else will work?

Do you think that the U Glu sold at hardware stores is pretty much the same thing and might work?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

Question would be "Why do they need to be glued to the inside of the vase??"

As to another glue...why not use double sided celo-tape... would not show... but then again I'm having a hard time figuring out why they need to be attached to the vase...

Read it again, Boss......OUTSIDE of vase. Silly!

Allie, can you not use any sort of binding technique? How many callas and on what sort of vase? Will the back show through from other facets of the vase?

glue dots and u glue are just about the same...

I am sure this is a dumb question. But, how do you get the magnet to stay on the calla? We are putting lemons inside of the vase so it doesn't matter what it looks like inside.

Lori - Do all glue dots have about the same strength and staying power?

Thank you for all the quick responses.

Allie, put one half of the magnet inside the calla and the other inside the vase wherever you want the calla to be. Once the magnets meet through the glass that is all you will need they will do the work. You will not need to do anything else to them.

Yes most all glue dots have the same strength, the store bought glue dots are smaller in size than u glue...so you might need to use two instead of one just for surface area..

I use the corsage magnets all the time for "outside" the vase designs. Sometimes when the Calla is to heavy just use two or more magnets. Works well. Like what you're doing may have to steal that idea for a party I'm doing in June

There is a new product that is called Magic Magnetzz. They are 6 ceramic magnets (read stronger than mineral) that are in 2 separate pieces of plastic. You could easily glue them on or in a calla for a great look. They hold EXTREEEEMMMEEELY well.

My first thought is to use magnets. If that doesn't work, (although I can't imagine why), then there is a great product called guerilla glue, which will glue anything to anything.

I personally would prefer a binding technique. I love that type of design. And the flowers would stay where you want them without falling off when someone hit a magnet or the glue.

Carol is right.......A binding technique would not only hold the callas in place, it would also add a visual impact to the design. When I was inducted in New York, a good friend of mine gave me a gift book......wrapped in brown kraft paper, raffia, and two callas.........I don't know which was more eyecatching, the callas, or the raffia weave.
