Just had a call from a local tv producer who wants me to work with a designer on a make over show, I wont be on the television but i will get a mention at the end of the show, and obviously local pr will be great and all because....

.... they seen my website!!!!;)

That along with £74 orders today has just made a little florist in Widnes a happy chicken!!

Just wanted to share some benefits, as it proves its not all about the number of online orders!! Other opportunities can arise as well!!

It is so interesting to see just how much a website represents us to not just our local communities but to the world. Not having a "real" website but only a wire service template..unless you have really customized it , I think is a huge mistake. Sam-e sam-e does not cut it for most consumers anymore....Strider has come a long way in their development and in many cases has surpassed some of the competition. Anybody who is waiting around to make a decision on whether to get a new website and break away from the old ways should do it now before they get by-passed. Good job Palms..your site is really really nice...and good job Ryan/Strider...you've come a long way Baby!

Sher,

Thanks! We're pretty excited about the features we're currently rolling out with our v2 upgrade and I already have something really cool I'm working on for v3. I have a feeling it will turn "surpassing" into "sucking of the dusty trail" but I don't want to say more until I know it will work :)

Congratulations Paula, with your website orders.Just one thing are they paying for the flowers or are you expected to foot the bill. I had a program contact me last year with a similar thing for a makeover show and it turned out they had contacted all the florists in the area and had been turned down. They wanted alot of stuff doing ALL for free. And the mention was just your company name in the credits. I would look into it with a fine tooth comb. If you work it to have it mentioned with a write up in the local paper but don't just rely on the show.

Thanks Jo, yeah i am paying for the flowers. I have been on a tv programme before and was only on that for about 20 seconds but the pr i got from the local newspaper was great, two write ups and also my customers loved it. There was a great buzz about the place, people popped their head in the shop to ask about it etc etc. I also got wedding bookings as a direct result from seeing me in the paper.

I realise the programme itself wont do the trick, its the newsworthyness (sp) of it. I am always looking for ways to get attention in the paper.

Also they rang today and asked me to personally take them as they wanted to film me arriving. Now, whether they will or not is a different matter, i know they can edit the life out of something. But, if i get in the paper for it, i dont care if i am actually on the tele lol.

Can you tell that most people in my town read the local rag :)
