So a giant big storm is in the way of where Natalie and I would have been traveling today.

We were both entered into The Rocky Mountain Cup, designer of the year competition. Competition is tomorrow.

And then I was suppose to take my CPF test the next day.

Well, there's a blizzard suppose to be coming today in Castle Rock, CO right where both events are to take place.

Maybe We'll get lucky and they will postpone the events...

I am so bummed. :(

Just seems like I can't catch a break lately.

I'm just gonna sit on my pity potty for a minute or 2,
Then business as usual.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that they postpone!!

<<<oh please please please please please please>>

My fingers are crossed for you!!
My family is supposed to fly out to Altanta for spring break tomorrow. Sounds like most of today's flights out of DIA are being cancelled. Will we make it out? Cross your fingers for me, Shannon!
Good thing for my kids, though...St. Vrain Valley school district closed today...they never close!

Hubby is working up in Silverthorn...

He said it's bad up there.

He said "Yeah it's pretty bad when they chain up the school buses to take the kiddys to school!"

I never seen that before!
Remember I lived most of my life in New Mexico. So did he.

Good luck Susan!

Chains on school busses? Yeah, I'd say it's bad. Not as bad as the blizzard we had in December 3 years ago (?). Did that one hit you, too? Snow was so high that most of us couldn't get out of our driveways...Brad ended up picking up a few us in his SUV and brought us into work even though most of the city was shut down! We made all of our deliveries that day!!
We had so many awesome comments on that!!!

Shannon,
Looks like Telluride down to you is going to get hit with a good amount of snow. 18"-22" is predicted in our area. 6" so far and blowing!!
I-25 is closed from Wellington to the Wyoming border due to a 30-vehicle accident. Ouch!

Good luck to you! Unbelievable bummer. This has been the worst winter EVER, for the whole country it seems. Hope a postponement happens for ya.

12" now. Husband on his way home from work. I've been waiting for his safe return for 2 hours (normally a 30 minute drive).
We made all in-town deliveries, but can't go on. Closing both locations for the day. Breaks my heart, but employee safety comes first. Blocked any new local orders on website, put a pop-up on home page explaining situation, put a message on voicemail. Did I forget anything???
How's it your way, Shannon?

It's snowing still, stupid snow... I hate it.
I'm really a Southern California girl at heart, lived there when I was little.

Yeah, the FAR is thinking about moving stuff around.
Man, I hope they re-schedual the Rocky Mountain cup.

Sandi said I could take the test whenever I want, So that was so nice of them.

I try to be as involved as I can in the FAR.

I think I want to have some sort of event down here. I want you guys to come to me for a change.
I'm gonna talk to Maggie about this more I think!

All fingers, toes and eyes crossed for postponements, Shannon!

Maybe it is a sign you are not suppose to take those test asn enter that competition.
THen on the other side of coins it may be KARMA!

Luc

Not sure what Luc means about Karma... In this case I mean....

Anyway, The competition is moved to Saturday, still not sure if we are gonna be able to make it.
<<<<<<<<loathing snow>>>>>>>>>

yeah, were still not going.... bummer

weather doesn't look like it gonna improve enough,,,,,,,,dang!

It's only being postponed until Saturday? I think that many attendees won't be able to make it there even then!

My husband finally made it home only after abandoning his car on the side of Hwy 287 and catching a ride home with a co-worker who just happened to spot him.

National Guard and Red Cross out and about saving the stranded.

I must say that I love snow and thank God we got it as it's been sooooo
dry. We needed the moisture, just not this much all at once!

Best of luck getting there, Shannon. If it's not cancelled and you don't make it, I foresee in the future everything good coming you're way!

Took me 3.5 hours to make a delivery that should have been about 20 minutes or so.

I thought I was going to have to take refuge in a McDonalds.

I was scared to death........Couldn't see a few feet in front of me.
Major streets closed and blocked off.
Bad, bad, bad
And, I go skiing several times a winter.
The driving conditions this morning was as bad as I have ever seen Eisenhower Tunnel get.

To all you snow bunnies, hope you and family are safe. In SC we had 5-6 inch's of really heavy wet stuff. Interstate 85 was locked down with cars for 12 hours. We can't handle it here. No power for many, trees down, kids and baby's live in my house for three days, no power. We have had tornado watches for the most part today, nothing developed.

Shannon, That totally sucks!!!! If they only postpone until Saturday, and things are as bad as I've been reading, the person who wins the designer of the year may end up being a local (I mean across the street from the venue) grocery store florist...winning just for showing up. They should consider themselves extra luck that you and Natalie didn't show up!:blowkiss:

be happy that you're NOT in N.Dakota, or south Manitoba...unprecedented and historical flood levels predicted, and already occurring!!

Well I wish them all good luck....

May the best person win.

BTW there 2 AIFD people in the contest...

BJ Dyer (who is a rock star)

and Susie Carr (who is an instructor at Trim floral school in Denver)

I had zero chance of winning, but I do like the critiques I get and I like to meet people within the association.

If I heard right....your average total snow for the year is around 20+ inches? and this storm should drop 12 - 20?

Wow....our average winter has 95-115" of snow here.
So sorry Shannon........keep the faith and keep the toolbox ready to go!
