What is the best way to keep a flower submerged in a vase of water. I have tried this before but always end up having problems when I move the vase. All tips greatfully received.

either clear fishing line and fishing weights or swirls of colored oasis wire and attaching the flowers to that...

I have tried the wire to weight down the flowers but obviously I did it wrong because it didn't work that well for me.

The wire won't weight them down, what you need to do is make a series of loops that fit into the vase and either glue the blossom onto the wire or twist the wire around the stem in the locations that you want them...make sure you use a wet glue, like oasis for flowers... not hot glue...

Do you use the metal frogs. We call them pin holds in the UK. They are metaldisks with spikes on them. You can put oasis fix on them to stick to the vase. Normally used in Ikebana

Yes, to all those statements. Kenzan or pin frogs normally used in Ikebana - they work great! Good luck.

u-glu?

I went to see Hitomi this summer at her show in St. Louis. She was every bit as fabulous as I had heard she would be. Anyway, she mentioned u-glu dots. She said they would hold even under water. Anybody else tried those yet?

do you know if those are the same as the new oasis glue dots?? I've been using those a lot lately, and they stick to anything. think i'll try them underwater tomorrow...will keep you posted.....

Although I have not yet tried the new u-glue strips and dots......I too am told it will hold under water.......but you have to position your item and glue it into place before you add the water I am told.

As far as submerged flowers.........If you use the wire technique........bend a section of the wire to clamp onto the lip of the vase to hold it secure.

When using submerged flowers..........be sure to add the water ON SITE. Do not try to deliver full of water. If you need to, use watertubes to keep the flower stems hydrated till you arrive on site......remove the tubes.....and add in your water.

Also, as a result of the flower's natural traspiration process.......after a while you will see tiny air-bubbles forming along the edge and underside of the flowers...This is natural.....it WILL happen..... I tell the bride that the flowers will begin to sparkle on their own.
