Today, I am working on a presentation for a club that will have about 300 members there in a couple of weeks. I have done programs for them before and they keep asking me back. So, I have to constantly come up with something interesting and stimulating. These are very upscale and very wealthy women, but, need stimulation in their lives.
So, I decided on a "bring me your junk program". I have asked a few really creative people in the club to search for uncommon, unused items that would normally not be used for anything and bring them to me this week.
I should get some really interesting items. So far, I have had rusted candlesticks, cracked vases, leftover ceramic tiles, dirty old silk flowers, old grapevine wreaths, electric candlelabra glass light shades. etc.
I have recently repainted every room in my house and have some very interesting colors of paint left. I have been dipping many of the items in the paint for starters. From here, I really get to use my creativity to show what can be done with their trash. I think I do my best work when a challenge is presented.
I am so excited about getting to do my thing, so, I know it will transfer into their excitement also. I just wanted to share this thought with some of you who do garden club presentation or civic club presentations.
I promise you they will be wowed with what can be designed from trash. But, I will use a few fresh flowers and will have the opportunity to tell them why they shouldn't get their loose flowers from a grocery store.
