Suggestions For Free HTML Editor & FTP Client

I have a friend who is putting together his first website. It's for a small home-based business. Just to be clear it is absolutely NOT floral related so we don't need to reopen that debate!

He wants to create the website himself and he can't afford to spend much on software. Does anyone know of a good, basic, easy-to-use free HTML editor and/or FTP client?

FTP: FileZilla. I live by this one.

HTML Editor: There are plenty, but the free Visual Web Developer Express, available at http://asp.net/, is pretty easy and has some nice tools to grow into.
