We did it! Instead of brown paneling, black trim and and a black/gold flocked wall paper that we inherited with the shop in the 80's ,we now are so happy with a light green decor. 2 professional painters did the job in about 9 days. We stayed open the whole time and were able to do one section at a time. Quite a job moving card racks, stuffed animals, vases and all the flowers and plants around the shop, but everything was put back better than it was to start. The office got a good purging so it too could have some fresh paint. We're looking good!

Congratulations!

We just had another air conditioning unit installed. For weeks we've been having to endure insuffient cooling and to close early because of the heat. The installers made quite a mess for a couple of days, but, oh, how wonderful was the end result yesterday when we had to turn up the thermostat because it was getting cold in the shop.

I hope that was not a thread hyjack. It was simply meant to be a comment on how nice it is to have the job done with life being better as a result. Better that is except for the $13,000.00 bill. Oops! Here I rant again.

Thats great Tulip. We are also fixing to paint and are going with a light spring green with white trim. Walls are now a mocha color and it gets very dark. The green will lighten things up and hopefuly you will see the entire shop better through the windows from outside. I dread getting started.

Making changes with color makes you and your staff feel great and refreshed and fueled with inspiration to be more creative.

It's amazing what fresh paint can do. We just finished painting all of our display cabinets & fixtures chocolate brown & lime green. They were white previously, so it's really warmed up the interior of the store. It's like putting a really fabulous outfit -suddenly you feel all new and pretty and confident.

Congrats on your update! And congrats Connie on being able to work in a more comfortable workspace!

I did this 2 summers ago...

I went from really ugly white wallpaper with 80s pink and blue paintsplash and a pink and blue floral border with white slat wall and purple rug and counter, oh yeah and a white rusty cooler and a display unit in grey...

To a beautiful light lemon yellw with a slight green tinge on the walls, moss green slat wall, lavender trim and bronze cooler and display case...same lavender rug and counters just professionally steam cleaned....

I then felt like it was now my shop....until that happened I felt like I was wearing someone elses clothes..

Good Stuff Tulip....regardless of how long it took the end result is always better than the battle you went thru to get it how you like! You must feel so much more revived and inspired!!! Sounds like a definate improvement! Our colours are orange/black and white and for a laugh my brother painted our toilet these colours and you walk out of it each time with a lift!!! hahaha

Tulip, doesn't it feel great.

I started painting the downstairs 3 rooms back in June, just a little at a time. Incorporating a display into another on the other side of the room, tape, outline, paint first color, tape again, outline, paint second color, put display back, move down 6feet and start all over. It took me 3 weeks to do the downstairs, one week for the staircase and another 3 weeks to do the upstairs 3 rooms.

But OMG...when it was finished I was thrilled! Our colors are light grass green below the molding and pale golden yellow above. The fun part was painting our new PARTY ROOM. The walls are Sungod, ceiling is Cool Water, 1 wall unit in Pinkalicious and another wall unit in Key Lime Pie. It's so bright you need to wear sunglasses.

So now that we've put the hard work in...bring on the customers.
