As an aside, I love the expression gobsmacked, and have used it many times during the course of my lifetime. ;) This is one of those times. I love this song.

Sadly the norm is talent is only for the "beautiful" people. Those who are perceived as ordinary, well, have ordinary talent. Maybe, this will alter that perception... one can only hope.

Susan Boyle Hype Revitalizes 10-Year-Old Cover

The song title "Cry Me A River" brings Justin Timberlake to mind for Generation Y. But that is likely to change thanks to Susan Boyle, the Scottish singing sensation whose Britain's Got Talent appearance wooed millions of broadcast and online viewers.

Boyle's moving rendition of "Cry Me A River" was uploaded to YouTube Thursday night, sparking further interest and frenzy over the extremely talented singer.

Boyle's "Cry Me A River" is a remake of the blues standard, not Timberlake's pop ballad. Boyle's track went virtually unnoticed when it was independently released 10 years ago on a charity CD reported Times Online. The Whitburn Community Council in West Lothian only pressed 1,000 copies of The Millennium Celebration compilation.

The singer, who said she has never been kissed, now has an offer on the table from Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan who has said he would take her on a romantic date. Still, Boyle isn't eager to abandon her more homely looks for an extreme makeover just because she is on the television show.

"I wouldn't want to change myself too much because that would really make things a bit false," she told CNN's American Morning on Friday. "I want to receive people as the real me, a real person."

It's not just Boyle's singing that has fans searching the internet for related information. Web searches for the term "gobsmacked" spiked after Boyle used the British slang meaning utterly astonished when describing her reaction to newfound widespread acclaim.

The humble 48-year-old unemployed singer who began performing in school productions when she was 12 credits her late mother as the inspiration to audition for the competition show. Boyle's story has already won her talk show circuit interviews on CNN and Larry King Live. An appearance on Oprah is said to be in the works.

Victoria she was on Britains got talent the other night and blew me away , i had tears in my eyes as she sang an Elaine Page song. I didnt even know the song but her voice was so powerful.

I felt for her as she was mocked a little which irritates me no end, she clearly is not a vain woman yet her talent far supersedes so many of the typical celebrities.

Fanbloodytastic and i hope to be seeing more of her, and she has such a thick scottish accent that is also fab...

The song she sang is from Les Miserables. She would like to sing like Elaine Page. Personally I think she does just fine as herself. ;)

She's a talent to be reckoned with I think. And if they were half smart they'd scoop her up now, rather than have her go through the talent show process.

She is incredibly AWESOME!! It's like the voice and the person don't match....she's like this hidden gem! I love it! I hope she puts out many albums.

I've always been really fond of this song. I grew up hearing the Aerosmith rendition of all things! I so wished I could actually sing so I could perform this somewhere, someday! My artistic talent ended up in my hands and fingers and eyes, not my voice! Oh well!

I saw a news story about her...she was amazing. Although the news reporter constantly remarking about her looks was really grating on my nerves. They were acting like she was the female version of the Elephant man. Not to say she couldn't use an eyebrow wax, but then again so could I.

Hopefully this will be a sign that the pendulum is swinging away from super thin, bleached white perfect teeth, 18 year old "singers/dancers" back to actual talent.

I love that she has stuck with singing for so long, regardless of not having commercial success.
