Hello and welcome,

I notice that you orperate out of a residence..

Is this residence zoned for business?? Do you carry all the business licences you need in your area to be a retail operation?

Do you follow all the proper flower prep and holding procedures??

Hi,

Welcome! Please tell us a little bit more about your business. You mentioned that you operate from your residence. Do you have a flower cooler there? Where do you process and keep your flowers? Are you primarily doing weddings and events or do you do retail as well?

hi all well i have a craft unit, its kinda like a shop but not on a high street, so inbetween a shop and residence really. I have all the right insurances and have gone through all correct channels and am business listed self employed. Yes i do funerals weddings coporate, and i buy in- don't have a cooler but aim to get a shop next year-going to take up an advanced course and then buy a fully fledged shop. I have had lots of shop experience, working for others and decided to set up on my own in feb. I originally went to the london college of fashion and did a degree in fashion design, then went travelling and gave up fashion to become a manager of a travel company and about 4 years ago decided i would like to work with flowers. I get bored every 7 years or so...could call it the 7 year itch!!! but in this for good as i love it sooo much. that's about me in a nutshell really, oh just got married last year and i have two adorable dogs.

How do you properly hold the flowers if you do not have a cooler?

Hi Lori
well i only really stuggle in the summer- and they are not that hot in the uk anyway, i have a flower delivery 3 times a week and that is how i get around the problem. i am just building up my business and coolers cost in excess of ï½£1200 so no funds just yet. not all uk florists have coolers, the climate doesn't always call for it as much as hot countries like australia or the us.

It can be quite confusing at first. I have been a florist for 27years and owned my own shop in Melrose, Ma for 2 1/2 years....

I started at my aunt's florist when I was 14 and then went to a 2 year college and majored in floriculture...

To access info about a person you just lcick there name an it brings you to their page. You will see tabs thet give you info about them and their history on flower chat. I am not sure you can do any of that until you are a registered member...
