Thanks so much for the idea of doing flowers with kids. We have planned a day for mother's day flowers with my daughter's preschool this May.

When I talked about it with the director she got so excited about bringing in something new that we started talking about other people that could come in and give a class about what they do. We have a firefighter coming in and I thought that I would check with you all to see if you have some other career people we could contact.

I have thought police officer, but there has got to be many more...

It's tricky thinking of people who have something to give a class on that's related to their career. The kids always loved it when my husband brought a big dump truck or even a road grater to school--not really class material, but the kids LOVE trucks! We've always had dentists & doctors visit the classes. I have often had preschoolers & kindergarteners visit my shop got for a mini field trip. For national education week, I taught about 45 1st graders to make a bouquet of daisies and a bit about where flowers come from. A friend of mine gave 5th graders a talk about his adventure races he participates in--brought his bike & some equipment. Kids love to bake--is there a local pizzeria? Grandparents are a wealth of ideas--does your school have a grandparent unit where grandpa or grandma comes and shares a special talent? Just brainstorming!
