My first born son is going to prom Saturday night with his girl friend!!(he graduates May 23) So I have carefully constructed a wonderful 2 tone composite rose for his girlfriend, and also made a really neat wrist corsage with all the trimmings, bullion wire fancy wristlett and his bout to match!!! You know I really put fourth some thought into his last prom.. and do you think they will even care?? I think NOT. Oh well I had fun doing it and thats what counts. Old mom rate number 3 in the life of a teenager~Thanks for reading...:blowkiss:

Tracy, Funny you should mention this. This is how I felt last year with the kids that came through my door and their moms...but this year it is a whole different game..Moms and kids alike have been on the ball with colors or dresses and accesories...gold or silver accents and they are willing to spend on the bling...Last year they kept saying its just a corsage...I had to bully them into the fact that they were different than your standard kabloom or grocery store corsage...as far as I know I am the only one who glues corsages and uses the fancy wristies and the wire...if anyone else does they are keeping it a big secret..

Maybe your kid is so used to seeing fancy flowers that he has become indifferent toward them..or maybe he is a typical 18 year old boy...

You know... they do care. I remember Alana's first corsage which I made for her grade 8 graduation. It was yellow roses and daisies, her favourite flowers. She still has a picture of it on her board. :) Funny, I've done all her corsages in life... she kept them all for as long as she could.

I think your right on both parts He has been raised around all the wonderful wedding designs I have done over the years and when he was around 13-15 helped me deliver them.. so yes he knows his mom to do something WOW for him.. it's just what I do.. and on the other hand he's creepy and 18!!LOL:poke:

My son started college this year but his girlfriend is a High School Senior. He deprived me of making awsome flowers for his prom by not going. He went with his girl friend last week to her Senior Prom so I made up for lost time. He said they had the coolest flowers there! He makes his Mama proud. Bet your will think his are the coolest too.

Interesting thread for Mom florists ( not being sexist there just that Moms are more involved in the whole Prom /Grad thing ).My darling daughter hates that I am always so busy with my business and never has any interest .She will help out at a push and has good skills especially with colours design and display so thats a pity for me .I really went all out for her first prom last year and did a gorgeous wrist corsage of silver decorative /bullion wire hearts with pink beads ,diamonte and rolled aqua rose petals etc to match her dress. She loved it as I had her fooled she was getting an ordinary one.She cried and so did I as it meant so much to her .She kept it too so yes I am sure they do care.Keep up the good work as a Mom and a florist.

My daughter is 13, in the 8th grade. I got all misty thinking about the future. . . it will be here before I know it. Moms - even if they don't mention now, I'm sure that in the years ahead, you will come to know how much they appreciate your efforts.

How wonderful to share those parts of planning his graduation - especially during this time of his life - I bet he will (secretly?) love all your efforts to make this momentous and special.

9:30 PM last evening I was back at the shop making a corsage and bout for my daughter to take to my grandson today. They live in a small town about an hour and a half away. I used lots of bling on both of them, I hope they are a sensation tomorrow night. Love that boy!

ok MIKE I am a little confused (don't take much) what are the pics???

I would say most of our kids appreciate their corsages and bouts. The one high school is the "money" school and we do alot of unusually things for those kids. The other high school is more conservative but do appreciate all that we do. The ones that don't you know when they walk in and by what they order. Most part we like making cors/bouts for them.

My oldest daughter always wanted something different (4 years of two formal dances each year) but usually in a wrist...usually orchids, one year delphinium, one year real blingy way beyond it's time, etc.
Youngest daughter wanted different but in the way of handtieds, pomandors, arm bouquets.....and she also was 4 years, two formals per year. They were way ahead of the trends in this town thanks to Florists' Review and trade magazines...........they always appreciated and saved as much as they could from each design.
Enjoy having fun playing for the kids you know.......that's what counts.
