For those of you that do fill orders for Teleflora.com, I'm just wondering if you're seeing any volume?

After hearing the ProFlowers commercials several times today with them claiming it's still not too late to order $19.95 a dz roses for delivery for Valentines, I was wondering if there really is any volume, and at what price point these orders are coming in at.

BTW... the commercials are VERY demeaning toward hard working florists, our "inferior/cheap quality" products that are stored in a cooler for weeks can't compare to "direct from the field" flowers. They fail to mention that these flowers are also stored in coolers, or left on the tarmac in Miami for hours, or that FED/UP really does not have heated delivery trucks, or that they can't deliver on Valentines Day this year and that.....

Mark,
No volume whatsoever. All the orders that come in are under value and it kills me that Teleflora always has a blurb on each order that says "includes $7.00 delivery!" Yeah, right! Teleflora offers a discount and passes that on to us! I refuse the majority of their orders. We have received the most order for this design: Imagination Blooms...priced between $70-90 on their incoming orders.

No, really nothing "yet" from HQ. In my five years, there has been less and less each year, as it is more of a local, walk-in kind of holiday sales day. I refuse a lot of HQ orders throughout the year, knowing that most are probably from OGs that have put me on their "Do not send to" list. Chalking some of it up to the weather here and people's focus being on "digging out".

Funny, as I recall the general feeling on this board about the TF commercials that featured a "dog pi**ing on a cardboard box of flowers" was that they were quite funny and appropriate. Now when the cardboard box guys fight back their commercials are considered demeaning. Lets face it neither side is painting an accurate picture of the other.

At the time I attempted to make the point that any media or advertising that paints a negative picture of flowers is bad for the whole industry. Now its simply coming back to bite us.

Yo! PF has a 5 year head start at dissing florists (and is still telling everyone we sell old, half-dead flowers) and I don't like the negative, but no one (until now) has challenged them. 1-800 and FTD have both just adopted the PF business modelwhile raking in huge profits from local florists.

No HQ orders coming in here....very, very little shop to shop wire in business either! I wonder myself where it is all going.

perhaps the conned sumer is calling direct. I know we've gotten plenty of calls asking "are we local" etc.

none here either, but then I have headqtrs blocked. so unless it's forwarded from someone else we don't get them.

just turned down broadway flowers calling with a TF order at 6:02 pm for val day. UM no.

We have not recieved an order from TF Headquarters for 4 or 5 years. Very few florist to florist incoming orders...mybe one in the last couple f months.
What we do get are many, many orders directly from people all over the world. Over 30 this last few days alone.
I do encourage my recipients to give our name and numbers to their friends, and constantly explain the better value achived by ordering direct from the delivering florist. From the little I have learned about SEO, our website, though nice enough is not generating these orders.
I think it must be due to word of mouth.
Go figure...the best type of advertising. Again. Only now it travels world wide.
