Teleflora is following me on Twitter. I have clicked on their little links for articles, websites, pics, etc only 3 times and all three times my McAfee Security has detected and removed a trojan. Why is that? If they are following you, be careful. I am blocking them from me.

Thanks for the "heads up," I was following them (I think "thems" a "her" and I'm not so sure she is with Teleflora) but after I read your post, I deleted her from my follow list.

I wonder why it's doing that? I'm using a different URL shortener now, so if anyone can let me know if they're still getting alerts, that'd be super helpful. Thanks!!

-Nicole.

As you can see, "she" = Nicole, who is a very real person employed at TF (doing a great job of social media interaction, too!).

McAfee Security, and similar products, are very prone to false positives. It may even be alerting you to a redirect or cookie. Before you get too concerned or take drastic measures, can you give us more details about the alert?

Ryan

McAfee alert says that "a trojan was detected and removed automatically by McAfee." I click on other urls on Twitter and no problem. This only has happened with Teleflora?

I have seen no warnings on my end, and I think I've checked all the links, many of them anyway...

So what URl shortener were you using - so I can avoid it in the future? Especially if it has tracking agents that can dig up my customer files?

I was using Cli.gs but I don't think it's actually a Trojan. Like Ryan and BOSS both said, sometimes your PC's security is wound a bit tight; what it probably thought was a Trojan was the tool gathering data on your location. Cli.gs is a useful tool because it tracks the # of click-thrus as well as what country they're from, that way if you're using a tool like Twitter which is available internationally, you can track if most of the attention is coming from someplace you can actually serve.
