Just wondering if anyone is a unit board member???

I used to be in the Western PA unit , I was secretary for 5 years. Present employer has dropped Teleflora....... long story.... I'm still involved behind the scenes when they need help for events. I really enjoyed my time on the board and hope to be on again. Sue from Flowersmith in on the board also in Western PA...can't remember what office she holds.

Just wondering if anyone is a unit board member???

Lori, I've been a board member since 1998. Have served as Secretary, Vice President, President and now Secretary again.

Are there any questions I can answer for you about board membership?

I'm currently Secretary for the Western PA unit. Just chaired my very first show back in April. We had CindyTole for a Sympathy show. She was a joy to work with. So far I've really enjoyed being on the board. It's great fun working with the designers and networking with my fellow board members.

What are you guys doing for the make someone smile week???

Hi Lori,

Nice to "talk" with a fellow board member.

My shop is partnering with the local Garden Club to make and deliver 100 mugs to an assisted living facility. I'm also having a quartet provide entertainment for the residents, as well. This is the third year I've participated and the first at this facility. I'll contact my main supplier to try a secure some product. Last year they gave me a really low price on pomps....45 cents a bunch!

One gal on our board is doing things in a big way. She's using a big hall and getting lots of help to make around 1,000 people smile!! She's actually in charge of our project this year.

What are you doing??

One of our board members is doing 120 mugs to a facility that she does every year. She does this with her staff. I and two other boardmembers are sending 100 over to a really poor nursing home in my area that the residents are kind of forgotten about. I feel for these people everytime I deliver something there because they all hope it is for them.

I am the President of the Ohio Buckeye Unit. Each of our Board Members is responsible for obtaining a location (so that area Teleflora members can participate together), organizing the crews to help design, obtaining donated product, garnering the appropriate publicity, and attending the deliveries of the finished designs. We hope to distribute over 1,100 smiles in Ohio. Interested in participating? Call or email me!

I am a Member of the Upstate NY Unit of Teleflora. I have served as President, Vice President & Treasurer. Regardless of how anyone feels about the wire service, education is SO important to our industry & to the success of our own businesses. I have learned so much over the years & would encourage everyone to get involved. Its rewarding to be able to plan & implement educational design events & work with the BEST in our industry.
Make a smile day, we are deliverimg over 500 Smiley Mugs in the Newark NY area. Last Year we did Meals on wheels. Great Fun Great Day!

Welcome! Although some bash TF on this forum, we board members exist to bring great educational programs to each unit. Our next show is a wedding show in July--we'll have fun and learn at the same time!

Education is key and Teleflora is the only one doing regional shows. I just wish they were closer and not 3 hours away! It's always worth it to take the staff to at least one or two a year to keep us current with trends and just to motivate! In the past I was a active ftd board member, it's a lot of work, so thank you to eveyone out there making educational shows happen, keep it up!
