Why is it that whoever is designing the web designs keeps using single cymbidium blossoms in vase arrangements?? I know that they last a pretty long time without water but I do not think it is in the florists best interest to routinely use these in the vase arrangements. It give the unknowing consumer the idea that these flowers can be gotten with a stem in the single form and it gives no information on the fact that a stem must be added and the flower will have no water source in said vase....I know that TF uses quality desgners to make the pictures for stock photos, but they really need to use some common sense on how these bouquets are being used and that they are not for a one day function and need to last for a week or so.....

We put the Cymbidium in a water tube for plants and put it in low arrangements, i.e. little cube vases. We are not TF members but I know what you mean about how TF shows alot of Cymbids in thier arrangements these days. They look cool, but they are not flowers we get in every day due to the high price. How many flowers shops have large Cymbidium sprays everyday in a variety of color? I bet not many of us small guys do.

I usually only get a stem at the holidays...here a stem is 15.00 wholesale...

Haha, yeah, those darn cymbidians. We don't keep them on hand usually and our wholesalers don't have a demand around here to keep them in stock, so consquently we never have the orchids for arrangements unless they are placed weeks in advance.

I also love how those web designs use vases that your local wholesaler should have in stock. We are in a city, several wholesalers, not one carries some of the stuff they use.

same here Kobe. We may get asked for orchids maybe once per year. We may be able to purchase cymbidiums once/year - Easter week and now even that time is iffy. The demand for cymbidiums here is nil as mass marketers cheapened the lovely cymbidium corsage many years ago.
The prices would be extremely prohibitive for us to order in one stem for one arrangement - basically, nope we can't provide those flowers in that design.

I use them all the darn time for weddings, the reason is, because of the hug factor, also they hold well in heat, and also easy ,fast to make, have to say , I use lots of them, have now for many years, also less issues for anyone that has them on there chest.

Yes, that is for weddings that last one day. These suckers are singally used in vase arrangements to go to houses for everyday arrangements...
