We have probably all experienced a situation wherein an out of town florist sends us an order that is discounted off the TFTD800 coded price. When we call to complain, they explain that they are having a "sale!"

"OK," we reply. "YOU are having a sale. What makes you think that WE should fill this already-discounted order at an additional discount?"

Well, it looks like TF is doing just that. I looked on their site this morning to double check some prices and learned that EVERYTHING on their website is discounted by $10 until after XMAS.

I tried a test order. Sure-enough, the order page shows the "regular price", a $10 discount and the "usual" $14.95 "handling/delivery" charge.

So... when a TFHQ order is sent to us REAL florists, is it sent at the coded "regular" price (with the $10 coming out of the handling charge) or are they "allowing/expecting" us to participate in THEIR sale?

Haven't seen a TFHQ order since way before Thanksgiving, so dunno what is actually happening.

From what I have seen in the past, the companies do eat the discount... they probably take it out of the $14.95 ""privilege"" charge.... still a scam....
 
No. The filling florists 'eat' the discount since they've already agreed to give up 27% and are paying another $1.50 or $2 to receive the order to boot.

If the average order sold is $50, the WS is discounting $5.

OTOH, the filling florist is discounting about $15.50 to get the order.

But to answer your question, the WSs have been sending 'full value' and absorbing the discount... unlike some of the the dOGs - who just send less $.

(Note: IIRC 1-800 takes extra dollars from Bloomnet members on certain holiday promotions, but the orders still arrive at the stores listed as full value.)

Have ya'll notice how all the big OGs are now at a $14.95 sending fee?

No sympathy here Cathy.... for the filler fools... that's the price you PAY, when you play THEIR game.... silly florists...
 
Just as an aside on this "discount" thingy... I think it was in my Discover "rewards" flier I threw into the trash on Monday... 25% OFF... 800Flowers, TF, & FTD orders... all dot coms......... How nice :(
