While I am not a champion of wire service codified products, I do find the Teleflora's Barcalounger container (father's day) something that will go over with my male customers. I did quite well with the Hot Rod Pedal Car several years ago, not with flowers or plants, but with guy snacks and a beer.

could well be

i glanced at it and it looked tacky. and the mother's day containers seem generic and run offs of last year.
Could well be since I have not seen it in person (it was not at display at our Texas State Florist Convention)....but some like the Hot Rod either and I sold 4 cases at the "Teleflora" price.

My nervines!!! I was absolutely mortified to see the Teleflora Father's Day selection. My immediate response was that it was an all time low for Teleflora's container line. Just attended the district Christmas show in Philadelphia a few days ago...loved the snowman for Christmas, absolutely despise the artificial tree jammed into the Kinkade house (but we have it, and will probably sell out) the red vase with the bracelet for Valentine's Day is bizarre-I took the bracelet off the vase to try it on and it was so stretched out that it could only fit an elephant! What a nightmare-expect lots of complaints if you have this item! The Easter products are beyond belief. We will be carrying most of the Christmas items, but will have to say nay and no way to the Valentine and Easter selections. Could the vase for Mother's Day be any smaller? It is attractive, but oh so tiny! We carry limited amounts of Teleflora products when we do purchase them. Our customers prefer the original designs we offer-more flowers and creativity without the expensive keepsake containers.

Clay-Love Your Deer Hunter's Basket!!! It's cool! On my way home from the Teleflora show, I hit a deer! Never expected to run into (yeah) a deer on a major highway in Jersey! The deer jumped the median on the highway and right into the front of my car. My car has oodles of damage, but from what I hear, I'm lucky it didn't come through my windshield. It sure was terrifying. I am still rattled from it.

Had to be artificial....so they could DROP SHIP it for the consumer direct to the recipient...

Didn't you get todays Dove message?

You just gave me my next idea

Clay,

Wonderful deerhunter basket. Not tacky at all. I'd send that over a rocker-recliner filled with anything, any day.

I've got a five spot betting that those recliners would be better filled with Dentucreme, prune juice and a rolled up AARP magazine.

I will take you up one the five spot, coming soon on our website!!!!

Love that Deer Hunter basket. Do you have to have a liquor license in order to include the beer?

We have already gotten a few requests for Kincade houses for this Christmas. We still have at least 1/2 of what we ordered for last year (one case). We are joyfully out of TF anyway.

liquor license

Yep, a liquor license for both wine and beer. With an occasional order during the year and a handfull at Christmas, I could really do without the wine permit. Maybe Victoria is not a wine community.....sell the beer baskets everyday.

Always looking for interesting guy products and themes.....does anybody have any ideas (no matter how crazy)? As funny as Cathy's idea was, I am going to do it and and sell it as a guy's over the hill basket.

And if worse comes to worse, there's always eBay. We had a TF rep tell us a few months ago -- when they called us for the third time asking why we weren't buying any product -- that they knew about florists selling their leftover product on ebay. (you guys may have chatted about this already, but I'm new here and may have missed it...)

You GOT it G-!

I have learned a long time ago that what I think is tacky has little to do with what our customers will buy.

I thought the grill was tacky...sold like hot cakes around here. I tried to buy a few from a big TEL florist in Philly - he SOLD OUT 2 days b/f Father's day. I will be getting the reliner. I like it!

Then again, I'm a Dad who LOVES his recliner, and enjoys EVERY spare minute I can get in it (which is NOT many, with 4 and 2 1/2 year olds around...). Will even hold by beloved Sony all-in-one remote!!!
