Telephone number question

Hi all,

I am not very good at searching the threads so even if someone could point me in the correct direction.

I thought some folks on here talked about buying the competions telephone numbers successfully and I would like to know how to go about it.

I have spoken to my local telephone company and they say I cannot buy a number until it’s a year old (too late) after it’s been disconnected. The telephone Co. says I need the other party to do a transfer of telephone service line??? (Yeah like they might do that)

I think others have said they have done this same thing successfully before…Help!?

Best bet is to strike a deal with the current owner of the number and have them transfer it to you. Keep in mind you will be responsible (in some cases) for any Yellow Page advertising attached to that number until the contract term ends.

Is this number from a shop that's closing?
