I asked my wife of three yearswhat she wanted for our anniversary this year. I have a plan that will take place this Upcoming Sunday, (July 6) but she replied that she only wanted a house. We have been looking around lately, and we had a friend who died in April and the family gave us a offer we can't refuse. Anyway she got her wish and she is happy but does it ever get cheaper when you buy a anniversary gift.
I also did get a nice card (hallmark) lol, and a scratch ticket for 31 days of draws to be held in July hoping we can win it to pay for it.... I also have something sneaky as usual for this Sunday. Being in a new church for a year, an we got married in the US, I thought it would be nice to propose to her again in front of the congregation on SUnday and re do our vows in our new church. I have arrange with the pastor to get me to talk about relationship, marriage and how to romance your wife. I will then pop the question. Only a few knows now and you guys , so please keep it quiet about it.
I just love to make my wife cry with surprises....
Closing date on the house is Aug, 1 moving date of end of Sept. because we have to paint, change acarpet and move in slowly.
Anybody wants to vacationing in Elliot Lake this year?????
Luc

It sure gets cheaper once you have a mortgage!

We bought our home around our first anniversary. By the second anniversary we managed dinner out, and this year was dinner in.

Man ... I need a higher paying job :loopy

Luc....

it's a real nice house, and it WILL BE YOURS, and YOU can make it that special nest that you and Debbie have longed for....I KNOW it's scary...you're FAR more adaptive than many people...you'll make out just fine!!
However...one word of caution...if there was EVER a time to BUDGET....every week...THIS is THAT time!!
Mike, Sandie says CONGRATS TOO!!

Luc, we got some GREAT financial advice from our pastor when we were getting married. It's kept us in good shape ever since :)
I'm going to check the name of the book we use for drawing up our budget - I think it's the "Financial Guide for Young Couples." It's by a Christian author, with Biblical ideals for finances.

I'll check on the title and author.

OK ... the author is Larry Burkett, and he's published a number of books on personal finance. Most are available online from Indigo and Amazon - including ones on buying your first house :)

Luc,
If you think the house is expensive wait until you get to the landscaping, and the plants, and the fish pond, and the perogi (pergola), and a few ornaments and..there is an endless selection out there to buy...... have fun!
Rock on

Actually the house I am buying is in good stable foundation, very well maintain and basically we got it at a right price because a) we knew the family and B) because they like us a lot because of what we did for their parents. I guess this is a blessing from upstair for everything I have done. THe price is $45,000. but in Toronto it would fetch easy $150,000. Mmmmmm I wonder if I can move it down south????
As for the mortgage, with taxes it will be a little bit cheaper for what we are currently paying a month in a condo, 2 bedroom with no frills.
Taking Aug to clean, paint etc and slowly move in in Sept. to be finish on the 27th. Hope everything will fall into piece.
Now I need to win the lottery to buy flooring, paint, and a few others things we need to.
Luc

um....LUC,

your house in Toronto, would fetch anywhere from about $190,000.00 to around $220,000.00, and in DUNDAS, would EASILY fetch $ 220,000.00....
Would be BEST to move it to DUNDAS...if you want Debbie to be REALLY happy....remember what she said about TORONTO??
Mike

$190 - 220??

A garden shed in Toronto fetches $200k :)

I know real estate agents who don't get out of bed for properties under 1 mil. $220 would get you the bad side of a semi-detached... Enjoy your home, Luc! Congrats!

Mmmmmm I should had my house appraised by a realtor from toronto or dundas....
lol
Luc

Regardless of where it is, I know Debbie will be thrilled. You're a sweetie, Luc.
