I have a june bride who has ordered bright lime green linens for her wedding. Blinding green. Her palette for the ceremony is pale pink, ivory and mossy green. At the reception, she wants to add varying shades of purple flowers (per request of the groom) to the pale pink and ivory. I'm uncomfortable. I just envision 20 tables set for Easter brunch. Any suggestions on how to temper the green linen with flower colors or should I make the arrangments as bold as the linens. Thanks in advance!

Off hand, the mental picture I have says it's not much of a problem. Doubtfully anyone will be thinking of Easter in June. Once the tables are set with china, cutlery, etc., the tablecloth will probably fade out as background. If the purples can be kept pale, the whole effect of the light-coloured florals on lime green background should be very fresh & breezy. If you can get some height into the tablecenters, that would draw the eye away from the lime green. Also, light-coloured florals will contrast well with the linens, further making them seem like a backdrop -- whereas intensely coloured florals will probably only accentuate the linen colour.

That said, I hate colour words because each of us pictures them differently. Your idea of lime green might be very different from mine. Is that the inside of the lime, or the outside?

Green like the inside of a lime but intensified... Like the green shiney cello zig used in Easter baskets...like preppy green from the 80's It also has a shimmer to it. We are doing low break-aways for each table, she does not want height. Keeping the feel rather organic - lots of pods, curly willow, horsetail, etc...mixed in with the flowers. Feel I should weigh heavier on the ivory/white flowers than the purple and pink. What do you think?

Why not kick it up a notch for the reception. I think it sounds beautiful to use all those colors (and I am quite good with colors). Purple enhances all other colors. The table linens should make your other colors pop, moreso than if it was very pale. Purple, pink, and ivory on lime green can be a "wow". People will not think Eastery. They will think pretty. These are all feel good colors. Go for it.
