My website is designperfected.com. I started my own company just this last December, but have worked in the floral industry for almost 20 years. I do not have any formal training, but have learned from 2 very talented bosses and have attended many design shows. I was referred by the owner of Stems A Flower Shop in Evergreen, Colorado. I hope to gain knowledge, inspiration, friends...learn everything I can. I hope to contribute my ideas of design, display, and overall knowledge of the industry. I do operate from my home, but I just started...who knows what the future will bring.

Hi Tequila, Thanks for your interest in our community. I am glad to hear that Dore from Stems referred you.

The silks on your site are really pretty. Do you do predominantly silks? You seem to have a couple pretty good corporate clients, judging from your portfolio.

Do you hope to open a retail store, or maintain a home based business? As a home based business, are you registered with your town (have a license)? And, do you pay/collect sales tax?

Sorry to be nosy, but answering these questions will help us get to know you better. Thanks!

Hi and I echo Amy's questions. Because you operate from home we need to know that you are licensed, pay business taxes and the like. Do you have a cooler... that kind of thing.

Thanks.

Hi back to all! Let me see if I remember all the questions. Silk flowers are my first love, but I do just as many fresh and I am beginning to love them more. Seems like each day I find a new way to use them. Yes, I do have 3 great coropate accounts. And I am looking to get more. I am not sure if I want to go really retail. I kind of like event/commercial work. If I do grow bunches, I do want to have a warehouse or even a by-appointment design space. I do have a license and I collect tax on all special arrangements. Otherwise, I am sevice orriented business. No cooler because I don't keep flowers on hand. The fresh arrangements I do now are once a week; I buy the flowers at my wholesaler. process them and then deliver them on Monday mornings. And for you, TGDragonfly, no worms, thank goodness.

Patty has a very cool business. She is service oriented...I found her by having her
work at my shop mainly for re-displays for holidays or whenever I get burned
out and need new juice.
She is legit. Pretty cool actually. Works mainly with the corporate world
and does not competed with the wedding business.
She worked for years doing what she does for someone else. Then moved to a major wholesaler in Denver, who
went out of business in December and put many employees out of work.
Which is why she has just opened her own business, recently.
pretty cool plan..since the other choice may of been to collect unemployment.

Thanks for all the positives. Politely to others- I do high end, natural looking silk florals, not cheap fake looking ones. "Not full service" -?. If asked to do weddings, funerals, etc, I will or find someone who can. No desire to be a retail florist -many wonderful ones already. No shop - I like being out & about. Home-based - I lost my job. I'm trying to be my own boss after several clients from a former job literally hunted me down & asked me for help. I lack "formal training." You either have talent, feel, desire, or not. You can be taught it, learn it, do it, but never "feel" it. No letters after my name; no desire for them, yet. Lots of work & worth all the effort. I congratulate those who do. I am comfortable in my own skin. I want more business; enough to keep my family happy & comfortable. I want to grow as a designer /person. I've met some terrific people lately, marigold; if being accepted connects me with even one more person like that, then it is worth it. Thanks

Based on Patty's answers and Dore's recommendation, welcome to the community.

Again, Thanks

When do we start talkin' flowers? It is raining, thank goodness, here and all my outside plans are a little wet. Victoria, I love the quotes at the end of your posts; so simple, so true and unfortunately so hard for most of mankind to understand.
