Well, I did it. As of July 31, I will be free of Teleflora. I started this process in April. They did some things to entice me to stay. I got 2 free months (membership and dove) to stay on thru Mother's Day, and they offered combined membership and dove for 99.00 going forward AND offered to cut my website fee from 80.00 to 40.00 per month. The 7% clearinghouse fee, 1.50 fee per dove order and 3.45 fee per web order remain. I think their offers are a nice start, but they don't address the real problems. I told my rep if they could do it the way Flower Shop Network does it, I would stay on, but that isn't going to happen, at least not in the near future. In some ways I find it hard to leave TF, because of all the big 3 they have done the most to help the florist. IMHO, they haven't done enough. I have to keep reminding myself that even though I receive about $22000 per year in volume, it costs me about 20% in pure overhead, plus 27% in fees and commissions to get that business, or about 10,300.00. What's the point? I hate to see my gross sales drop that much, but as I told my rep if I can't make money doing it, I shouldn't do it. To those who have already gone thru this transition, how did it affect you?

I dropped bloomnet Jan. 1st. My gross sales are slightly UP. I don't have to turn away 100% business in order to fill 55% business, so COGS is DOWN.
What she said! Don't worry, it will be great. Your timing is good for summer when not many wire orders come in anyway. I became wire free Feb 1st. Mother's Day I did 40 more deliveries on Sat this year than last when I was still TF.

I have dropped 800 april 30 20010 and so gros sales are down local and walk in are up, but the money seems to stay put longer in the bank account, because I am not spending on unnecessary product...I buy what I buy and sell what I buy and go back when and if I need more, not buying to fill one specialty order and hoping to sell the rest after I already bought what I wanted...

This Mother's Day I was down 2500.00 in ws sales, but I have had money to pay all my old debt from the economic downturn and still keep a few dollars in the bank and pay for symposium, I would have had to put out 700+ dollars in cash to fill those orders plus wages and then wait until end of june to recoup, my bills would have still been sitting here waiting another week to get paid and I would have only been able tp pay a few instead of all because the ws would have gotten their money first...plus it would have been another 400 to bloomnet for their fees plus the 27% paid out...

Us as well. We've now dropped TF and Bloomnet. Sales are down, bottom line is up. Still have FTD, as I have their POS system (working on getting the $7K together to pay them off, but not there yet), but we don't many orders from them. Working less, making more. Woo hoo!

Where's my last TF check??

Any of you who have dropped TF, did you have to wait extra long for your last check? We finished with them as of May 31st, and have not yet gotten our May settlement check. If I owed them money, I'm sure they'd be up my arse for it. Also disputing a March "reciprocity fee" and have heard nothing. It's just all take, take, take. If I ran my business like theirs, I wouldn't have one - no customer service!
I've heard that they "sit on" your last check, anyone else have this experience? Thanks.

They took a long time to mail my 2nd to last check.(we were always a bigger sender and had started sending FSN to make sure we liked it before our TF membership ran out.) So I started sending everything TF again for the last month so I would owe them instead. Good luck.

The TF rep I spoke with said they wait 3 months before sending your last check. This is because TF members have 3 months to dispute orders and file complaints. So hang on for another month. ALSO - don't forget to ask for your security deposit to be returned. I've heard you must ask - it's not something TF does automatically.

I canceled my membership at the end of March and received my final settlement check last week.

p.s. They sent my deposit back automatically, I did not have to request it.

TF, if that's true, it's just WRONG! That's what a security deposit is for. Do they really need that money more than me, when I've paid my wholesaler, filled and delivered their orders in MAY, and I still won't get paid until August?? Oh well, this will soon be history, right?!?
Anyway, sorry, before I derailed your thread....Being WS Free now, I have to tell you we've had the best JUNE ever, and at the current rate of sales, we should hit our totals from last year (when we were with two WS). So, look for only good things to happen.
