In mid-October I visited New York City for the first time and asked for your suggestions. Thank you so much, everyone, for your favorite places to eat and things to see and do. I took them with me to reference as we made choices each day. We had such a great time!!! I loved New York City and didn't really expect to like it as much as I did.

Here is what we did. We liked staying in Times Square because it allowed us to experience it without having to make a point of going there. It was such a colorful view out our window every day. It was amazing how alive and awake it always was.

We spent most of our time in Greenwich Village and Soho. Every day we just wandered about to see what we found. I loved Central Park and had no idea it was so wooded and varied...and safe.

We ate at Gallaghers, Russian Tea Room, Mandarin Oriental Hotel (what a view and fabulous fresh florals!), a new place called Braeburn, the Farmhouse, and more that I can't remember. We stopped at corner bakeries for hot chocolate and desserts. We stayed out late every night. We walked in for a Chinese massage...ouch. It was so much fun and inspiring and everyone was so friendly, (with the exception of only 2 people: a cabbie and a store clerk).

We did go to Century 21 and it is a trip. We spent too long there and now that we have been we both said we won't go again, but I'm glad we did it for the experience, and we did have some "finds". It is huge, crowded and goes on and on into hallways and odd levels. I'd rather be out on the street in small owner run shops. By the way, it is right up against Ground Zero, which is surrounded by a tall barrier.

My friend and I can't wait to go back. I'd love to do some work there somehow.

Again, thanks for all your great suggestions. I am keeping them for the next visit.

Beautiful photos! You have quite an eye for photography as well.
Yes i love NY also...used to go every year by myself on the bus for the day.
If you ever go back you need to do the Christmas show at Radio City, just once.
It is quite an experience.
