The Interflora World Cup Competition is being held in Shanghai this weekend and the event is being covered by Dutch-Creations.nl . Here's the Wold Cup Competition section. The articles cover the 'Flowers of the Orient' pre-planned theme arrangement and the surprise package 'Shanghai Tang' design.

PARALYZING props and florals - this is really what world-class floral design is all about. Be especially sure to check out the designers from

Germany
Japan
France
Korea

and the crazy, cool prop from the Malaysian competitor.

Wish I was there.

Tomorrow's competition includes a table for two and a wedding bouquet. The Top Ten will then go on to compete in two surprise packages to crown the winner.

The US Competitor is Keith White, who is a terrific designer in his own right. He chose a simpler route on the first day and used little propage compared to most other competitors. We'll see how he fairs tomorrow, but this first round seemed to favor 'wow' designs with substantial props to go along with the flowers.

Based on the photos, the big guy here thinks Germany is sitting in the #1 spot.

Freakin' amazing- talk about wicked sick!

Awesome and everything I aspire to be. I don't even know how a person gets to that level....I'm just sitting here with a tingle-y feeling all over!

Thanks for sharing Cathy!

I think I agree with your big guy. I loved the finished design although my first thoughts on structure was with the Norwegian but I didn't like the finished product, I think because of the colors.

Thank you Cathy!
Words escape me..I want to forget today's orders ans spend the day on this site!
My personal favourite is the entry from Japan; love the flow..SIGH.
Back to TF and reality!

The prop from the Japanese designer is a work of art in itself. :)

I'm guessing the photos from today's round of competition should be up on the site in a few hours. They're doing a GREAT job of covering the event.

Forgot to mention that the Dutch Creations site is running a People's Choice competition with the winning designer receiving 2.500 euros (approx. $3300 USD) so be sure to vote for your favorite here.

Had a quick look but will look more in the week, i am probably bias but i am very impressed with Neil Whittakers entry also. All inspiring work :)

Isnt it typical that you get really busy just when you find a site you could spend all day on ;)

I have seen Neils work quite a bit at local flower shows and trade shows.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Cath :)
