The FTD Creeps make me soooo mad

Ok so here is the deal...

The FTD promo pack arrived today. Looking through the posters, we came to the poinsettia poster...The other owner said..."That is a silk poinsettia"...after further investigation....I'll be @@@@...you can see the frayed edges of the SILK poinsettia. How in the hell are we supposed to make a real poinsettia look like that! I called my market place rep...have not met the new fied rep yet...low and behold...SHE QUIT...OMG She was about the only decent one there...Well needless to say this guy who answered the phone got an ear full. I looked on FTDI.com site for the ceo's phone number...well is used to be there...no longer there....No phone number for an of the "High Offices" for FTD. I also gave him an ear full about the Photoshop arrangements they put together...he said that he would forward the info to the "Right Person"....any one want to put bets on how long it is before I get a phone call....my money is on never.....Look at the pic attached....BTW he even said..."yeah it is silk, this is not the first call I got about it" I ask him about the FTD rule that you never sub silk flowers for Fresh cut flowers...No comment....I asked him how they could expect the local florist to "play by the rules when FTD was not playing by their own rules" Makes me SOOOOOOOOOOOO MAD!

Every FTD member needs to call there FTD field rep and DEMAND they show only florist designed arrangements NOT Photoshop Designed Arrangements.

I just laughed when I saw it. That poster would never go up in the shop anyway....
It is pitiful that they would use a faux poin never mind a poor quality one when there are so many others that would photo much better - or even just photoshop one from previous years!
 
So - why are you still a member?
 
Got a call back already...

She LIED!!! she swears it is not a silk poinsetta at first...I basically told her she is a liar! then she starts saying that she could not remember. Then it was probably a silk bush b/c they could not get one that time of the year.

So which is it? Silk or real? She really could not decide. Such a lieing bag of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guess i would have lost the bet!

to answer that question, there is not another FTD shop or Teleflora shop here. At the end of the month, we do make money from them...I don't mean we get a check every month either. After doing the profit worksheets, there is profit from it. This is the ONLY reason we are still with them. Trust me..if we did not make a profit, they would be out of my store. I don't keep any line that is not profitable. We are probably one of the few that actually makes a profit

We are on a small town aggreement..Only $59 per month. We have been paying this for nearly 3 years now. I don't have low sending fees etc. we don't advertise in the book...only the standard listing. This is how we make it profitable

I'll say it again for all the new members... THE ONLY RULE is, there are NO RULES where the wire services are concerned.

When our "Marketing kit" came in the mail last week, somehow it ended up in the dumpster...dang postman. He knows I'll never show anything with a brand other than mine on it in my store...

Just don't put that poster up - I won't. Actually, no need - nothing sells better than YOUR own product (i.e. our local grown Point) in that pot. Yea - we bought it 'cause a) big city, get coded orders, b) Use the pot to up price points easily and quickly - especially when you're down to the last of the crop and need to "add value" and c) we seem to sell them EVERY year...

SO...use the poster as a bird cage liner and doll-up and put the pot on display with ur own STUFF!

We are not going to put it up. (We never use their posters) It just really make me so mad that FTD thinks we as florist and the consumer are really that stupid. I bet we get orders for that and how many people are going to say " Well it was ok, but it did not look like the picture" This is the real point behind my posting....It is not that we are going to use that poster or any other material they send (other than the book) which is why I was looking through it anyway. Can't wait for someone to complain through FTD and I beleive I will tell them that I can send what is in the picture, but just did not really think they wanted a "Silk" poinsettia" how do you think that would go over with FTD and the consumer. Not to well.....

Also about the photoshop pics...she said that they "only touch up the pics if there is a bad petal or something and they always photoshop the stems"....My responce was you should show the consumer what they are really getting......We can't Touch Up the flowers that we put in the vase. It is deceiving.

This is why change never happens. To many people are either afraid to speak up or they don't think it will make a difference. If everyone who "don't think it will make a difference" spoke up about these things, guess what....just maybe their voice would get heard.

You can try, but it will fall on deaf ears, been there done that have the badge to prove it....They don't care as long as they sell expensive product and florists keep storing them in the basement, why would they care...then you call and they lie because what are you gonna do about it call again and yell and complain at them...really now what do they care about that...I commend you for caring, and I think it is great that you want to make a difference, but your one voice even 300 voices if we got that isn't gonna make a difference with 2000 sheep just following the herd...
 
I completely understand what everyone is saying about it falling on deaf ears.......I wish it were not true...but even I know it is...

I also look at it this way....

As long as you never try the WALL will never come down...however, if you chip a way at it long enough, you will create a weak point in it, and someday the wall will crumble if you continue chipping a way.

Same as politics..if no one ever called their senator or rep, they would always do what ever they wanted, but when enough people contact them, they seem to change thier view about things. To me seems to be the same thing here.

Several years ago FTD had a members board similar to Flowerchat. I was on that board and I was very vocal. One day I could not log on. I called FTD and was told that I was no longer allowed to log on to the board because I was too "opinionated" I threw a fit and went all the way up as far as I could go. After all I was a paying member and who were they to censor me on the board? Guess what? They shut the board down completely.

Shortly after that, my membership was " not renewed" by FTD.

I did a "happy dance" when I was notified. :ballet:

about 6 months later I got a call from the field rep and was offered a deal if I would come back. You can just imagine what I told him.....
