My friend Jack is in ICU today. He has been on a transplant list for 2 years now. His heart which is three times the size of a normal heart is beating about 17% capacity. He is comfortable with of the possible outcome.
His last resort is to go on a mechanical heart that may last about 1 year.
So prayers are requested for him and his family.
He is in ICU because of a bug that he caught and can't fight it off right now.

Now how many of you have thought about Organ transplant if you pass away un-expected? How many of you have talked to your spouse and family relative and give them your wish to be part of saving lives or staying the way you are. How many of you have talked to your kids that are old enough to understand the importance of this program.

Did you know that one person can save up to 7 lives. Eyes, heart, liver, kidneys, lungs are all used to save lives. Time is always of importance for the Doctors to recover and organs for transplant. Take time today and talk to your family, sign donors cards today, just in case....

I am on the list...will you!!!!

Well wishes from NJ.

I am an organ donor ... I have always believed in recycling. ;)
When they cremate me, I hope my body is an empty shell, with all my vital parts scattered to the four corners of the earth.

Me too. I've long been a believer in the organ donation programme. Why do I need all that extra baggage when someone else can use it. :)

Prayers for your friend Luc.

Don't take your organs to Heaven. . . .

Heaven knows we need them here.

My 26 year old daughter is reciepient of one of her Mom's kidneys.
This past July was their 13th Anniversary.

She is doing great now, to see her, you would never believe she ever had anything wrong. Kathie is great too.

So, yes, the body I leave behind will be donated.

Yes, I've carried some form of organ doner card for 30+ years. My Dad was involved in the cornea bank start up in New Jersey many many years ago. I thnk that donations are the greatest final gift you can leave.

Definitely an organ donor here - although I pity the poor bloke who gets my parts ;)

My friend, Micheal Serba, who was recently murdered in a senseless act of violence, was able to save 5 lives when his family made the difficult decision to end life support.

I agree with Ryan, have been a donor for many years (daughter has worked on organ harvests at her work and preaches to me) but God bless anyone who gets what I have worked hard to wear out...........maybe I should straighten out my life???

Luc.....

tell jack, that his buddy Mikey is thinking about him, and all of his customers are thinking about him as well.
My dad is in the critical care unit right now, with the same issues!
My mom was bawling her eyes out this morning, as the surgical staff whisked him out of coronary care into surgery!!
There is a humorous side to this......he was chasing the garbage truck last thursday, with one little bag of refuse, that he forgot to put out the night before......
The man is 82, his brain is 40, his memory is 30, and I hope it's still the same later this morning.......
I & Sandie both signed, and made it quite clear, about our organ donor intentions, many years ago.....I'm sure that once they get done with me, all that'll be left is my defiant stupid grin!! <~>

Ryan, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Death of a friend is difficult... they way Michael died is even worse. It's something I'll never ever understand.

Take care.

Luc, your friend is added to my prayer list. Mikey, your dad also...what a guy!

I've had the donar designation (shown as a small red heart) on my driver's license since the DMV started doing that. Before that, I carried a card stating my desire to donate my organs. Quite frankly, they can have as much of any part of my body that is left and usable. I won't be needing it! And I hope that my new body in heaven will be slim.

Luc, thanks for the timely reminder!

Mikey!
May the power of his healing hands be with your dad, and his comforting hands around you and sandie during this time.

I'm a donor, have been since I got my driver's license all those years ago,
I'm a blood and platelet donor as well.

Mikey, whoever gets your heart gets the grand prize!

I just hope the recipient has room for a heart that big :)

Yes. I am an organ donor and have been every since I was old enough to carry a drivers license. My parents and many family members hate the fact that I have choosen to do this with my remains as for one reason or another it is against their faith. I just ignore them and keep smiling for someday it may be one of them that needs an organ, and I may be the one they have to harvest it from. Wonder what thier faith will say then?

Luc,
Prayers from Virginia and North Carolina to your friend.
My husband and I both hope that our organs can someday save a life. Please, everyone who reads this should consider bone marrow donation also. I have a friend who did this and found it not as painful as she heard and was very proud to do it! I since have put my name and specs on the list.

Have carried a Universal Donor Card for 30 years, as have my brothers and sisters.

My parents founded the West Virginia chapter of the National Kidney Foundation. Dad and Mom worked to raise awareness about organ donation and my father hoped to receive a transplant. None of his immediate family members were appropriate matches.

He died at the age of 38, leaving a widow and 5 kids ages 6 to 12.

Thankfully, much has improved in the process of and the suport of organ donations since the late 60's.

Luc, thanks for encouraging all of us to consider the good we can do after we're gone.

My prayers go out to the families awaiting transplants.
