Feast your eyes on the luscious, stunning and simply outrageous creations from this year's "Tulips & Pansies: The Headdress Affair" in New York.

According to the article:
The headdresses, each with their own themes, styles and inspirations, were floral masterpieces in height and length, some towering over four feet high and others spanning the same in width. Creativity was in full bloom with designs that included a fantasy bird's nest with eggs, a Greco-Roman Cleopatra hair style, a floppy "over the top" brim hat made of roses, and a Napoleon hat.
Click the 'View Slide Show' link on the article page to see all the amazing entries. I believe the winner is on slide #3.

Thanks was very interesting and beautiful..not your average fashion show and I'll bet that the hats were a tad heavy.

Wow and I hope they had a chiropractor in tow.

I like the one with the frog and the white and blue one. The blue butterflies look like they were made out of orchids, can anyone tell if that's the case?

I like slide #19 A LOT!!! I love the crescent with the branch. Very ethereal.

I'm such a nerd - fashion bewilders me! I don't "get" most of the styles, but appreciate the intricate nature of the designs, and think most of them are way cool. I love the floppy beach hat, and the bear grass cap.

I really liked seeing the behind the scenes shot & the sneak peak at a designer with glue gun at-the-ready!
Now THAT, I "get". ;)

Thanks for the link, for making me "think" today.
:)

I LOOOOOOOOOVE doing headdresses - They are some of the most fun floral fashions to do. The right model, frame, outfit, and music....and yes, even a few choice flowers thrown in there........You can take people's breath away.

I did notice that it looked like some of those models had to use their hands to help stabilize the weight and balance of those headdresses. Although I have not ever done Damas de Caridad or Las Floristas - I do know that is not acceptable in professional headdress design.

Ran across this video shot by a florist covering the headdress event:

The New York florist, Mikey Flowers, has created his own "TV series" via YouTube vidoes. Here's his Channel. :)

Haven't had time to watch the videos but he's definitely onto a great idea.
